I just finished round 2 of mulching stuff up.Still tons of leaves on the trees. I'm trying to keep ahead of it this year. I let it get crazy last year and had a time of it. Gonna try to do it weekly till it's done. My poor mower and I were covered in powdery dust after both sessions. I was wearing a dust mask, earbuds(with jams) and hat to keep it out of my head holes.
Anyone else feeling my pain?

Yes. I raked/leaf-blew/leaf-blew-vacuumed stuff last Saturday and filled a bunch of cans and bags and miraculously it was 70° and sunny here this afternoon so I grabbed some more. I always try to stay on top of it so I don't have ALL the leaves at the same time. I can't use a mower to grab them unless I rake the majority of them up first. Then I use the mower. So right now I have 4 LARGE plastic cans filled and another 4 paper bags. As you said... lots of leaves still on the trees.

Last year they got wet and were 3ft deep at the fence. It was bad.

I don't have the number of leaves you guys have to deal with but it usually takes one or two, Santa Ana wind storms to knock off all of the leaves on the oak and maples trees around here.

Our property has 5 Oak Trees that are over 125 years old. 1 is over 150. You want to talk about leaves??? We also have a variety of at least 8 other trees that drop leaves on the lawn as well. Back yard can easily get 3 inches of leaves in a matter of days. I love Oak Trees, but they don't drop all their leaves at once. The first drop has finished and we are waiting to have a crew come in and take care of all the leaves after the second drop, which is usually mid-November. The third drop won't come until late winter/early spring.
Yes... we do have to have a service come in because they bring in a mulcher that reduces the volume. I simply don't have the capacity on site to take care of it, nor do I want to make 10 trips to the recycling center.

Most of my neighbors have lawn services. Those giant, commercial-grade mowers can take the leaves and chop them up as long as they come often enough. For me, I have to do it in shifts and just stay on top of them.

this will be the first year since buying the house that i didn't have to worry about cleaning up leaves. grumbled about it every year, tons of work, but it kept the house cool in the summer months, and looked gorgeous in the fall. Had it cut down earlier in the year, it was at risk of falling, and with all the crazy weather, decided to be proactive. last picture: full fall colors:

When I see yards with beautiful, mature landscaping I'm always jealous. Drez has posted some shots of his backyard and the large trees are beautiful. Until you have to rake them. My house is 30 years old. I have a River Birch that has a good amount of leaves, a Blue Ash that is good-sized and a maple that is on the small side. Then there are trees on neighboring lots that I have to contend with but nothing like what you have there. The tricky time of the year is right around now... mid-October. I have to get the pool closed otherwise it will have so many leaves that the skimmer will clog. I have to clear the skimmers 4-5 times a day. I had the pool closed last week and it's a relief, believe me.

Hundreds of huge oaks, hickory, cherry, and sycamore here. It is a battle here every year. Taking a different approach this year but thinking of buying a leaf collector.
