Had my first run-in with the cluelessness/stupidity that seems to be rampant since this pandemic started. I go to CVS (masked up) to pick up some prescriptions my primary care doc called in. I get there, and there's a truck in front of me at the pharmacy pick-up window; he hands in a prescription, there's some conversation b/w him and the pharmacist, and the script gets handed back to the guy in the truck (I'm assuming they couldn't fill it for some reason). Truck pulls away, and I think the guy has left. I pull up to the window, give my info, and as I'm waiting for the pharm tech to retrieve my order and pay, I see in the rearview mirror that the truck that just left has returned and is now parked behind my car. Then it gets wierd: the driver gets out, (not wearing a mask of any kind) and starts approaching my car to just walk up to the pickup window and argue his case. He's completely oblivious that I'm ahead of him and being waited on as he pulled up.
I roll the window down a bit and yell back at him. The guy, holding his previously-rejected script in his hand, stops and says "I need to give this to the pharmacist."
I yell at the guy, while pointing at my face, "Hey, you see this mask I'm wearing? I'm wearing it b/c I have an immune-suppressed kid at home, and I can't bring Covid home. Now, BACK UP!!" The guy's shoulders slump, and he walks back to his car, not getting in, but standing there talking on his phone while I get my order and leave. A**hole.
TL/DR: people are idiots. Don't endanger my or my family's safety because you're too stupid to use common sense, nevermind waiting your damned turn.

This whole shit-show has truly un-masked (no pun intended) the sense of entitlement that runs rampant in our society.

I think that would deserve a wicked blast of gas directly from your beanhole after eating a Fiber One Bar, some cottage cheese, an avocado and some week-old fish. The guy should not have been trying to cut in line anyway but what about the distancing? The guy is a non-believer.

So the great isolation has me watching more TV. Awhile back there was a cool, gray and drizzly Sunday and I was bored out of my gondola. I flipped on the TV and did something I generally never do... expected the TV to just 'entertain me'. I usually only turn on the TV when I know something is on that I want to watch or I'll watch Netflix. So I go to one of the HBO channels and the very end of Alien is on. Okay. Then up next is Aliens (#2). Okay, I watch it. As I check the guide I also see that Alien 3 and also Alien Resurrection will be on in the next few days. I have seen bits and pieces of these and haven't seen 1 & 2 in forever. So I did the whole thing and watched resurrection last night. 1 & 2 are clearly the best. 3 was not great but Resurrection made 3 look like Shawshank Redemption. Also, Sigourney Weaver never really did much for me but she was 29 in the first movie and looked pretty good. See what this virus is reducing me to?

So I keep watching some DVR'd HBO movies. I watched a Nicole Kidman movie called The Others last week. Not a bad movie but not great. Made better by Nicole for sure. Then there was another movie with her called Birthday Girl (both released in 2001). Not great but again, it has Nicole Kidman so there's that. A couple nights ago I looked through the DVR list again and I see that I grabbed the original Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D and Jaws Revenge. I'm not sure offhand how much I have seen other than the original (which is a favorite of mine). Jaws 2 was just silly. I may or may not have seen this whole thing years ago. Everyone was back except for Richard Dreyfuss who apparently knew better. Just terrible. So much of it was so similar to the original and yet not cutting it. The acting is similar (overacted, overly dramatic, etc.) but the similarities end there. I still have Die Hard 1 & 2 and I grabbed some others which probably record later this week but I forget what they were. Some of these will be good to keep but many are delete-worthy.

The first Jaws was excellent. A neighbor from my childhood was an avid scuba diver, but said that after he saw Jaws for the first time, he said he was afraid to use his bathtub. The rest of the Jaws movies are complete throw-aways.

Got a call from the brewery owner on the way to the main job tonight. He had to toss out his first belligerent patron this evening.
Just a recap: all taprooms/restaurants were reduced to take out only on 3/15. On 6/1, taprooms/restaurants are allowed to open. No more alcohol to go sales, unless 40% of your bill is food. We dont have a kitchen, so that handicaps us. You can get a growler to go, but you have to have a table first. These are the current restrictions:
*No sitting at the bar. Table service only.
*Only 30% of your maximum occupancy. (60% in two weeks)
*Tables are 6' apart.
*All patrons must be of the same household.
*Must make reservations. No walk ins.
*patrons are only allowed to walk around to use the restroom. No free roaming of the space.
Now, this has been well advertised, and we have the rules posted on the front door and the bar in case no one got the memo. Also, all chairs have been removed from the bar. These restrictions suck hard, but thems the rules.
Well, enter this one guy. Pulls a chair up to the bar, demands service. After the bartender kindly reminded him of the restrictions; he got all irate. "I dont give a flying Feck about the feckin' rules! I want a beer!!!"
You wanna know how to get kicked out? Cuz that's how you get kicked out.

Visitors are extremely limited right now. One of my co-workers told me they walked past the front doors screening station today and a visitor was arguing with the screeners. Saying that the mask wouldn't protect them from Covid. Mask is protect US from YOU DA. The rules are put on a mask or GTFO

This really is a wild social experiment. I feel like our state (based on state and local government, what businesses and individuals are doing, etc.) has been pretty conservative and safe. I was able to get a haircut last week for the first time in 4 months but I have not been out to dinner or a bar yet. My wife met a friend at an outdoor place and she also invited a friend over to sit in the backyard. My inlaws have been over too. But my son graduated from college and the ceremony was online and we DID NOT go down there (Austin). My daughter lives there too and there was a huge party at the house my son lives in but my wife, younger son and I did not go. It feels like things are easing a bit and I know that everyone desperately wants everything to go back to normal but then you hear about the 1918 flu and how the second wave was worse than the first. Do you just become more calm about it because you see things around you opening? Or do you hide in the basement with your tinfoil hat? I would love to see sports but I have no control over that. We're considering having my sister and BIL here in early July and we're also considering a trip (finally) to Austin to see two of our kids. Who here is going out as if "it's over"?

I was in Tractor Supply today and a man and his son were in there. Son was sick and coughing everywhere--no masks on. I got the hell away from them. This is how this crap spreads. Don't take your sick kid in a store coughing everywhere.
