drezz has an aversion to apples, and apple gadgets. You missed that one. As stated, I was using an apple corer thingy my wife bought as one of the fundraiser gifts for our kids class. It decided to break apart in my hand and two of the metal "blades" sliced my thumb up. Much better now but that sucked! I was actually cutting an apple yesterday morning and as I wielded the knife, "DREZ" went through my mind. Glad you're okay and still have all your digits.

Got roped into cooking a turkey breast for Easter. (Unbeknownst to me until this morning). So broke out a vintage Kreik. Bottled in 2018, blend of a '16 and '17 lambic, aged on about 7 lbs of sour cherries, for a subtle fruit flavor. Cheers, brothers.

Here's a repost from the blue board. My Rogue Dead Guy Ale brewed on the Pico C from a Pico Pak is in the Dead Guy pint glass. For comparison, an actual commercial canned sample of Rogue Dead Guy is in the Rogue Amber Ale pint glass (next to the can). Color is pretty spot on. Mines a little clearer, and a little darker. Head... Well... there's a story behind that. I kegged this in a stainless steel 5L growler/mini-keg. I used a small keg charger with a CO2 cartridge to push the beer out of the keg. Every time I connected the CO2 charger to the keg, I could hear it leaking. Turns out, that when I attached the CO2 cartridge to the charger, it blew out the O-ring between the cartridge and the charger. There ended up being just enough pressure left in keg to pour this pint! But it was mostly foam! This is after settling. I've ordered a new mini-CO2 regulator that should work better than the charger, but it won't be here until at least Thursday. Aroma is pretty close to the real Dead Guy. (That sentence doesn't sound right... Beer that smells like a dead guy doesn't sound appealing.) Mine came out about 7% ABV, vs 6.8 for canned Dead Guy. Mine's lacking a little in hop flavor and bitterness. It's still good, but it could be better. I'm actually pretty impressed. But I'm not going to be brewing PicoPaks on this thing.

Got my new mini CO2 Regulator yesterday. I'm sure enjoying having a keg (albeit a tiny one!) of fresh-brewed beer in the fridge!

Cheers to Friday! Old Skool hopped IPA. Columbus, Chinook, Cascade and Centennial. It came out better than I expected and the Columbus flavor I had hoped for is right there.

The beer looks great and your backyard looks like the Rainforest Cafe!

The beer looks great and your backyard looks like the Rainforest Cafe! Thank you. Front of the house ship shape and linear. Back yard, tropical and always seems to be over grown. I can't thank 1728 enough for clearing like a mofo w/o any finings. 4th or 5th generation to boot.

Yesterday we had a couple inches of snow and today it is 60+ out. Perfect day for this Helles. I do want to make a Helles. So many recipes not sure which way to go. I have a good personal idea but.... Make it as simple as you can. 90/10 Pilsner malt/Munich 1. 20 IBUs at the start of the boil with Hallertau or similar Noble hop. Omega Bayern would be my choice but 2124 or 2308 could be nice too. This is basically the recipe (or so I'm told by someone who is never wrong about anyhing... ahem) for Paulaner Original Munich Lager. I have a keg of it sitting in my on-deck fridge that has been lagering since January. I used Diamond on it but sometime I'll have Bayern up and running again and make it with that.
