Oh wow. That's awesome, I think I'll grab at least one of those. The one I already have is deep under an awning, so the worst I get is spiders. Any other cameras would be more open to the elements thoguh. I've also read that you can turn wyze cams into a regular webcam with a code update, so it would work great for me cause I stream on twitch ans whatnot and the quality is actually really nice. The audio is TERRIBLE though, good think I have a mic haha. I've been really happy with my wyze cam. it was easy to hook up, and I only have to run a usb cord for power. it's perfect for my use case. I'd be interested to see how well the battery powered cams work.

Where I live there is no police response, only clean up after the fact. I've worried about what happens when I'm not there. These are something I've been wanting for a long time. Deterrence is better than clean up. My wife said she saw an ad for cameras that not only do all of the things mentioned here but they light up blue and red like a police car. Talk about deterrence. If you live in a more remote area or you just think that some shenanigans might take place around your house when you're not home... we're lucky to have such a wide range of products that are affordable and flexible to our needs. I didn't really want an ADT with a monthly monitoring, etc. I also did not want wires hanging all over. I also did not want to "arm" the house with a keypad when I leave and disarm it when I return. I'll have to seek those out. I was driving down a county road the other day and they had one of those digital radar speed signs set up. I was of course driving 15MPH over the speed limit and it started flashing red and blue. Got my attention for sure!

Wow, I hadn't seen those before. Of course, I had to see if someone's already making an enclosure for it haha www.yeggi.com/q/esp32+cam/

I'm actually trying to design a button for one of the kid's Nintendo controllers. They dropped it and broke the one button. About to print and see if it works!

There's some dude out there in cyberspace that created 3D parts that hook on to the xbox controller so you can use it to control planes in video games. I bet if you search google you can find files for your button

I did see that. It's pretty amazing how well that works considering it's only using the normal controller!

FYI, the camera that Ken listed in the initial post is now on sale on Amazon for $58. Oooh, bonus deal. It would be crazy easy to add cameras to any of these systems, I think. I already had an idea for an additional camera. One issue that I'm having is with the app and managing "alerts". Right now I have the app set to alert me any time that the camera sees something. It's easy to ignore and it's easy to erase/clear those alerts but what I fear is that it will be so common to clear them and one day I'll see 50 alerts and clear them but one of those alerts was actually something I want to see. I can set the timeframe for alerts so maybe what I need to do is remove the daylight hours from the timeframe and just go from 5pm until 5am (or something) to make it smarter.

Can you dial down the sensitivity? Like you won't want a leaf passing the camera to trigger an alert but you'd want a person or perhaps and raccoon pooping in your pool to trigger one.

Yes, there is HI and LO sensitivity. The cameras seem to be pretty smart about that. Blowing leaves seem to be okay. The front door picked up a squirrel the other day which is okay. I saw a squirrel on the back patio once and assumed I would have an alert but I did not. The app says that it focuses on "human shapes" and filters accordingly. The one thing about changing the timeframe is that I could be getting out of the shower or something and the doorbell could ring. If I had my phone I would have a live view so I knew who it was but if not, there would be no video and I wouldn't know who was there... the Amazon guy or Mr. Klopek. Obviously the Amazon guy is WAY more important. I need to fine-tune it a bit.

Even when I got the Wyze cam I had to play with the sensitivity. I Had it wake me up a few times when a car's headlights crossed my lawn. But luckily there is a setting that only alerts you when there are "human" shapes.
That's what I changed to and it seems to work really well. I've only gotten one or two false alarms since. I'm sure you'll just have to play with the settings.

Hi JB: Yeah, the one on my driveway sees a little bit of the street and the Klopek's driveway but it does not trigger when they pull in or out or if a car is in the court. That could also be because my camera has a mild delay on it. If I walk past the camera, it picks me up halfway through passing the lens. If an animal ran quickly across my front porch or driveway, my guess is that the camera wouldn't pick it up unless it was slow or stayed in view for longer than maybe 5 seconds or so. And that's with the sensitivity set to HIGH. Not sure I like that aspect but I'll have to deal with it.

Oh wow. My Wyze does a pretty good job of picking up everything. There was only one time I can think of where it didn't pick up a friend who dropped something off in my mailbox. I can't really blaim it though as a person wasn't even fully in frame that time since my mailbox is way off to the side.
Overall I've been really happy with them, but yea, hard wiring it is the downside.
