I have 3 outdoors with no issues. 2 have been out there for at least 2 years. I have little "Houses" I got form amazon and they are great. Oh, interesting...the Wyze cameras aren't battery powered, though, right? They are not. I did just get an update that they are working on a battery one. I need to find the email.

On Amazon the description for my camera said that the battery would last 3-6 months. When I got them the documentation said 3-4 months. Still. 3-4 months is not bad.

I look forward to hearing your actual battery life. Let the record show that I put them up on 11/2 after charging them for the suggested 8 hours. In the app it shows the camera wifi strength (my driveway is 75% and furthest from a beacon, front door is 85% and backyard is 100% and very close to a beacon) and it also shows you the battery life. There are five marks inside the battery showing life by each 20% and they're all "full" at the moment. We'll see.

I believe gutters are generally aluminium, which sadly is not magnetic. Thanks, I had a feeling they are aluminum. I could possibly rig something up with a piece of metal on the inside of the gutter...sounds like the magnet is pretty strong. I bet you could just put a small thin steel plate inside the gutter so that you sandwich the gutter between the plate and the magnet...

I will look into the battery one for my parents. I currently use wyze cameras and they do what I need for now. I've also liked the Wyze cams. I have one just for my front door and caught the kid who stole all my Halloween candy! I've been considering getting a couple more to put in the back of the house and toward my neighbor's place. He's a bit...different.

I have a few that I use for various things like when I am smoking I will set it up so I can watch the smoker from inside or one time we went away for a few days and I was spunding a lager so I had the camera pointed at the pressure gauge so I could see how it was doing. Silly things but for 20 bucks they work really well.

On one hand it seems weird. As I'm looking at the live feed or videos I'm imagining myself as some weird hermit shut-in looking at the outside from in the house. My wife just left the house for a walk and she went out the back door and I got an alert and then she walked down the driveway and I got an alert which all seems Big-Brothery. But at some point I will get pictures/vids of something unusual or useful. I also feel like just having the cameras visible to people is enough to deter some thuggery. Once you're in view of the camera there are lights on the face of the camera that light up. I would think that would be enough for someone to just move on.

Oooo, very nice! I may have to grab me a handful of them! They are small enough to put just about anywhere. I'm also considering outdoor light fixtures with built-in security cameras but they didn't get great ratings the last time I looked at them. They would blend into the decor a lot easier and all my outdoor lights need to be replaced anyway. 12+ years of weathering has taken a toll on them.

Where I live there is no police response, only clean up after the fact. I've worried about what happens when I'm not there. These are something I've been wanting for a long time. Deterrence is better than clean up.

Deterrence is better than clean up. My wife said she saw an ad for cameras that not only do all of the things mentioned here but they light up blue and red like a police car. Talk about deterrence. If you live in a more remote area or you just think that some shenanigans might take place around your house when you're not home... we're lucky to have such a wide range of products that are affordable and flexible to our needs. I didn't really want an ADT with a monthly monitoring, etc. I also did not want wires hanging all over. I also did not want to "arm" the house with a keypad when I leave and disarm it when I return.

We have ADT and it's gotten ridiculously expensive at nearly $70/month. The system works well but lacks cameras. Ideally, ADT will be replaced by something else with cameras but I just need to find the time to research, install, etc. Google Nest products are very nice and integrate well but are very expensive.

As time goes by, people are able to do things by themselves in a satisfactory way without using outside services... and that goes for a lot of things. As a result, ADT maybe sees it's subscribers dwindling so it has to raise its price. $70/mo is steep especially when 95% of the time there is NOTHING happening. Amazon has a ton of these camera options and there is something for everyone, no question.

Absolutely true and probably the reason that ADT purchased one of those self-install/monitoring security companies (Life Shield, I think?). That said, having an ADT-monitored carbon monoxide alarm potentially saved our lives recently after we had our stand-by generator running for 12 hours after an outage.
