Made an order with them yesterday for 2 sacks of Avangard (pils and lt. Munich).
Thought it would arrive sometime next week, which would've been totally fine, since I'm good on grain for a bit but wanted to get an order in and if it took a few days to get here, no big deal.
Order placed ~1:30pm my time, order shipped 2 hours later. To my very pleasant surprise, it was delivered at 11am this morning.
Shipping boxes weren't in the best shape (a couple of seams on each were busted), but the grain sacks were intact and protected in the boxes with some plastic air bladders.
Sacks will stay out in the garge for a few days to quarantine, then down into the basement for storage (got one Vittles Vault ready to fill; the other sack will have to hang out until room opens up).
I know LP is good about getting orders turned around fast, even for them, that's riduculously fast. Not that I'm complaining (cuz I'm not).
I wish FedEx would be more careful, but that's a different story.

Yeah... They're killing the customer service thing! I usually get stuff in 2 days.
A recent order from MoreBeer!, on the other hand, didn't even ship for over a week! (Not that I was in a hurry... but, still!)

Yeah, I really like them. B, being in Ohio I assume you're in the "ground zero" shipping area but I get my orders quickly too. Then there are the great prices that beat my local suppliers even if I pick the grain up. All hail Label Peelers.

I don't think it was too terrible, to be honest: both sacks of grain (110lb worth) was $41 total to ship to me, so a little over $64/bag, delivered.
Still cheaper than driving to my LHBS and paying their prices.

This is the part that gets me. Here, many places will not sell full sacks. The one that always does is about 30 minutes from me and what they have in stock is always in question. Sometimes they have what I want and sometimes not. 55lb bags of Maris Otter or Golden Promise approach $100. Rahr Pale Ale has been as high as $70. LP must be selling at a really thin margin or else every other place is gouging. When LP can ship me a sack of something for less than I can get it locally (picking it up myself), that's huge. Watch for sales and things get even better.

Agree a million %. Back on the old forum, I think we all discussed the sale LP ran (I think it was last year) where they were selling sacks of Briess pils and 2-row for $30/sack.
I got in on that sale, and right after I ordered, the grain went on backorder for a few days. Called LP to see what was up, talked to a super cool guy (forget his name), and he let it be known that LP was selling those Briess sacks at their (LP's) cost. I think they were using it as some kind of loss-leader, or something to bring in traffic, but I'd say it worked well for them.
Got my grains a few days later (NBD, wasn't in a rush to get them), but I will buy continue to get my grain from them until/unless they price themselves out of bidness, which doesn't seem likely anytime soon.

Even as I go to their site now, 55 pounds of Swaen Pils for $41? Giddy up. AFAIK, I don't have a local option for that malt at the price.

Is anyone still doing pallet orders from North Country Malting or the like? I remember NCM was shutting down new homebrewer accounts around the last time I ordered so I don't know if they are still doing that. Sacks of CMC 2-row were like $28/ea and Best Malz Pils was around $37. The shipping wasn't too bad, either, when you order a full pallet. I looked back at one of the old New Enlgand group buys I ran, shipping came out to $4-$5/sack.

My LHBS does (or did... they're suspended for now!) pallet orders periodically. They take sack orders until they have a pallet's worth, then order. Not sure if they have it shipped, or send a truck to pick it up (truck, I think...). Prices are pretty good, starting in the $40's if I remember correctly...

I'm putting in an order now. Their price on Clarity Ferm (which I use on every batch) is less than half of what I've seen anywhere else. I'm surprised it's even above their cost.

You will be surprised at what you can do with these guys. I got 50 lbs of Briess pilsner malt for $29! Their shipped price for a sack of malt is less than I can buy it locally. I was rummaging around in my specialty malt bin this week and I see that I was running low on a number of things I use a lot... dark malt like carafa, caramunich, flaked corn and I have some nice German beers coming up with this Bayern yeast and I needed dark Munich so I just placed an order with LP. They do a good job, their prices are good, they have quick shipping and they are always accurate with their orders. I like ordering from them.

There is a store in West Boylston that does a group buy in the fall, prices are not bad. My last few sacks were bought from a brewery.

I only bought small stuff this time because I got overnight shipping to ensure the yeast was healthy.

I think that $29 sack would have been close to $64ish shipped to me.
