Did a hoppy rice lager a while back- it was 40% of the grist! Saw the recipe on a Zymergy email, and tried it out- subbing out hops and yeast. A little bit of liberty and Vic Secret at the start of the boil, and dry hopped with the same combo. Finished at 1.008. Fermented with OYL-114. So how did the 40% rice lager turn out. Did you like it? I have a rice lager with 9% rice conditioning now. I don’t think I can tell there is any rice there. I'm really enjoying it. Surprisingly, it has a nice depth of malt flavor- did use the Wyermann floor malted pilsner for the other 60% of the grain bill, is my only guess. The rice isnt noticable at all. It's bone dry and while not over the stop hoppy, they carry thru to the finish. I'd do this recipe again- maybe add a 10 minute hop addition for more aroma.

Damn Ken, you make some pretty beer! Thanks brother. Sometimes the beers come out really nicely and of course I only snap a pic when the beer looks good!

My Super Bowl Brisket smoking beer. (That’s a lime floating in a 3.2% Bitter with Challenger and Cascade hops. Basically, an all day beer) Cheers! 🍻 …and… Go Chiefs! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Lime in a bitter? Bold move, my man. Here's a Vienna Lager from earlier in the week... And a Munich Helles while making some white bean chicken chili for the game yesterday...

Lime in a bitter? Bold move, my man. … Actually, it was more like desperation. The beer was unremarkable so in an attempt to revive it I added the lime. Meh Not so great. So, today I added an oz of Cryo TRI 2304 CR Blend in a bag of marbles to the keg. We’ll see if that perks it up at all. I believe that blend is what they now call the original Cryo-Pop. Not sure though. This beer needs some pop so let’s hope so.

Not sure though. This beer needs some pop so let’s hope so. I've done that before where I have to scramble to improve a beer after the fact. I'll add a muslin bag of hops to the keg for a few days and then retrieve it. But I always wonder... did I measure out the hops wrong (Pfft! No! I'm me, after all! ) or were my hops in poor health and they lost their punch or what? It was one of the things that made me wonder if I was too trusting of getting hops anywhere I could find them and it made me pay more attention to where I got them and how they were stored. I probably would've tried the lime too.

This actually turned out to be a tasty beer. I like the late Cryo hop addition.
