I think everyone here would relate. This forum has only been up for 48 hours and I have already mentioned (with Lefty, I think) that people act like middle-schoolers. Name-calling, piling on, acting like an idiot, acting like you know everything, mob mentality, etc. I don't know if there were more people that I didn't like but the couple handfuls of people who I did not like did 95% of the BS. There is one person in particular (and I won't bother with the name) who is the most self-righteous person in the world. Never wrong and never concerned about peeing in someone else's Cheerios. I honestly have never known anyone like that either online or IRL but he was one of the biggest reasons I had to leave. I also agree that it's unhealthy. I have been on a kick to remove as much negativity from my life as possible and leaving there was one way to do it. Thanks for that Chils and thanks for coming over here. You will not experience that here.

You will not experience that here. I can sure relate. I can think of a couple of people in the PH at the old forum who I'd really, really, love to talk to in person and see if they were as tough/brave as they acted online. The few posts I participated in recently at the PH were ones that were relatively benign (grocery experiences during the current pandemic, what I was making for dinner, advice about making wings, stuff like that) but the subforum where really contentious stuff was discussed? Nope, not going in there.
Besides all of the crap that is going on in the world right now, it's nice to have a place to hang out where we can talk about beer, grilling, sports, or whatever, and do so without fear of being crapped on, belittled, insulted, and the other BS that the PH at the old forum not only allowed, but (I think) encouraged. Why, I don't know, but it seemed like some of the higher-ups (not Ken) liked it that way. No thanks, not for me. I have enough negative stuff in my life to deal with; I don't need to go looking for more.

Thanks guys. Now that I have that out of my system I probably won't talk much about it. Really is better to just put it behind us for health reasons. I feel like that negativity poisons you from inside and don't like to dwell on it.
I don't have much brewing stuff to share, don't know when I'll brew again and haven't drank a beer in a long while. Been drinking wine lately. I established myself on another forum where I've shared a bunch of content and post there regularly.
Don't know if anyone would even be interested in my latest hobbies. Been doing a bunch of home renovating and working my land. Associated tractor stuff, metal fabrication/welding, plowing and digging dirt, chainsawing etc.

The Blueboard was born out of the Greenboard which I joined in 2003. The Greenboard (apparently) was "overmoderated" and people were suspended over minor things and as a result I think that Scott and George decided that the Blueboard was going to be more open, for better or worse. I brought many things to their attention that were pretty much ignored. I think this place will work out nicely.
Chils, you still have a ton of brewing knowledge in your head so stick around and participate when you can. The other guys are referring to you as "that lager guy" so I'm sure you will have some good Czech beer nuggets for us.

Still have a ton of projects to take care of though. Do love me some Czech beer, guns, women...

Don't sell your gear. You'll come back and make even better beer next time... if that's possible.

Is there a way to edit my forum view? number of posts per page, avatars, sigs, etc? I know there are global settings but not sure about your personal view. You can go to your profile and edit settings there but offhand I have not checked that. I think the forum is still less than 72 hours old.

Yeah, that's how it originally looked and I made some changes. There are A LOT of settings for this thing so feel free to play with whatever is available at the user level. If we decide that something needs to be changed for whatever reason (it's hard to navigate on a phone, etc) then let me know.
