Anyone have one? I am thinking about getting a used one to replace my current car. I also have an F150 that will be going away as it no longer is reliable and I am looking to downsize from a full-sized truck to a midsized. Most likely a 2018 model. Any good or bad would be helpful.

My son just bought one in Austin. Texas is all-pickups-all-the-time. He put a lot of homework into it and found that they just run and run. 200-300k miles is apparently very common. He has some buds who also have a Tacoma and they all like it. My son had 3-4 car choices in his head but I could tell by the way he was talking that it would be a Tacoma. That's the first car that he has bought as an adult. His is the two-door with some amount of cab storage space behind the front seats. Nice vehicle.

Thanks Ken. I would be looking at the 4 door model as I need some room for the kids. I have been driving an Elantra back and forth to work for the past 3 years and I have an appreciation for a vehicle smaller than my F150 Crew Cab but I would still like an option to throw some sheets of plywood in the back of something.

I'm sure his was relatively stripped down but I know he was impressed by how reasonable the price was for what he researched to be such a dependable vehicle. He also told me that every time he saw one available, it was snatched up pretty quickly... especially the used ones. Remember too that if you get the green one you can park in the RESERVED FOR GREEN VEHICLES parking space.

For what I am looking at used is still close to 30k and that is a hard number for me to swallow, what I really want is much more. I have not seen any green ones but I will keep looking just for the parking advantage ..lol

30k for a used one? Damn. My son's was probably closer to 20k which confirms his was pretty basic. I do agree with you though... you want what you want. When I bought this Rogue to drive in the winter I realized that I really wanted just about everything that they had on it but I still got it for under $20k. The larger 18" tires, AWD, leather, panoramic sunroof, all the cameras and safety features and just under 30k miles. I start getting twitchy when it comes to spending LARGE amounts of money on a car.

Everything on that truck looks nice but the price seems a wee bit high. 30k miles is fine. 2018 is fine. One owner is fine. Unless there is something about the truck that makes it a super truck, it just seems steep to me. But... this truck seems to have a cult following. People in the market seem to snatch them up so it's possible that the price is artificially inflated by that. I'm sure that in your area you will see more of them so wait until you see one you like. The dealer I used was affiliated with 29 other dealerships. This place is just down the street from me so instead of looking all over online and driving all over I went into this place and told the kid what I wanted and said "please find it for me". And he did. Btw... what's the TRD? Turd? Toyota Turd? I see the TRD versions on the road but I don't know what that means.

Maybe it is the Northeast but I saw that same year and almost identical truck at another dealer for 3k more. The TRD is the package that is set up for off-road use. Skid plates, better suspension and limited slip diffs etc.

I suppose we both live in areas with a smidge higher cost of living which sends prices for all things higher. Yeah, $36k for a used Ranger is not for me. It might be for someone but not me. I'm lucky that I'm easily satisfied with most things car-related. I benefit from having low needs and having low expectations!

I just want something that I can have all 4 of us in comfortable and also haul stuff. I do not want leather ... wifi ... a microwave ..etc. Sadly that is hard to find.

Get the one with the fireplace and bowling alley. I had that 2008 Odyssey which could haul some stuff. I also put a rack on it so I could put lumber, etc. on top without killing it. I kind of miss that but the rack also fit on my Rogue (a Thule bike mount with the crossbars) so I will put the rack on there and go grab 2x4s, 4x4s, etc. and it works. I know you're in the middle of a project now so you need space. Of course, having a pickup means getting calls from friends to move a couch, refrigerator, etc.

I should count myself lucky.
