Went to the doctor yesterday. He talked me info getting a flu shot and a shingles vaccine.
Man, am I wiped out. Fever, Body aches and a throbbing headache. The moving van shows up Friday morning. I still have a couple small things to button up.
This is the last thing I need. I hope I can find some Tylenol and kill this headache.

I had a nurse swear that the flu shot doesn’t give you the flu. I threw the BS flag.

It may not literally give you the flu, but it can give you flu symptoms. It is one of the known side affects.
The doctor told me about 5% of those that get the shingles vaccine have a reaction of flu like symptoms. It hits you within a few hours and lasts about 12 hours. Exactly what hit me.
Without a doubt, one or both if the vaccines kicked down and out.
Glad I got the shingles vaccine. "Ain't nobody got time that!"

Do you have a place to stay in CA for some amount of time? Are you in a hotel driving across the country? Are you already in TN? I don't remember you saying that you bought a house in TN already. Feeling low and moving at the same time? Just kick me right in the groin.

I was up the creek for 12 hours and recovered in time.
Thanksgiving we did the final packing. The movers came and loaded Friday. Saturday and Sunday was get rid of the junk in the house time. One trip to the hazardous waste to get rid of all non-landfill materials, paint, solvents, old florescent tubes (some were what we inherited from the previous owner), cleaning supplies, etc. Then an out and out dump run to contribute to the landfill.
I told the wife we are cleaning the house as if we were a couple college kids renting an apartment and trying to get our deposit back.
Yesterday, we signed the closing docs and shipped the cars. Now we are in a hotel with a rental car. Fly out Thursday AM. Good By California!
We sign a lease on an apartment in Nashville. We got an email last Wednesday, "The apartment will not be ready Dec 1st." We negotiate a smaller apartment with a garage. Today the wife calls Debbie (the manager) asking where is the new lease? "What are you talking about? Debbie is no longer with the company."
So now we have to get the updated offer reconfirmed.

Ugh. Moving sucks. But in the end there will be light. It can be exciting and I have heard nothing but good things about Nashville, the surrounding areas and TN in general. Better days are ahead! Keep us posted on your progress.

That does suck. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon.
I am a cpl hours S of Nashville and can vouch for the area. Small town feel with city-style amenities. NFL football, College football, NHL hockey, golf, fishing, concerts, shopping, food/beer/whiskey-scene, and tons of all kinds of music given all the recording studios (not just country).

As I get older I can see that I am not going to take winter very well going forward. Scraping cars of ice, shoveling snow, driving in snow and ice, hell just getting the mail blows! We can also have weeks at a time where it's just gray, dark and cold. That's no way to live!

Oh, I forgot to include the saga of our deposit check for the apartment.
The wife got a cashier's check to hold the apartment. She dutifully took down to the post office to send it registered for it to be signed and the return receipt card.
A few days later, she checks the tracking. Something about "Unable to locate valid address, returned to sender." For the next week, the tracking has no updates. Now is says some crap about "Left Nashville office number 1234. Your letter is late, but it will arrive at the destination!"
I have seen this before. I had a package from Brewhardware leave the City of Industry post office 3 times. The fourth time is left and arrived at a different post office.
It has not been easy. We just got confirmation that we will get the apartment & garage we were promised by the now departed Debbbie.

Coming from California, no state income tsx is a significant savings.
Om the other hand, TN has the highest beer tax in The USA.
So it might a wash. Until I get my rig set up snd start drinking tax free homwbrew.

That’s because they want you to drink the local product: TN Whiskey 😉

Until I get my rig set up snd start drinking tax free homwbrew. You know, historically, a great journey from one land to another ends with the building of a brewhouse in the new location. It's the first thing that has to be done because it will be a few weeks at least until beer is ready for consumption. I'm sure Columbus did that. I know Maximillian did that. Vasco de Gama probably did that. Now Zymot needs to do that. Here ye, here ye! I now present thy very first Tennessee Zymotbier!... and there was much celebrating. And chugging.
