When I recently got back into brewing, the main thing I said was I'm going to keep things simple. Ok, getting cheap Speidel fermenters was simple and a welcome replacement to glass carboys. Still, a modest investment (almost $100 for 2). Then, I was gifted a Tilt. Technically free, since it was a gift but I'm getting a second. Then, Trong sends me a SPUNDit. Also free, but to really take advantage of it, I'll need either a stainless fermenter or 10 gallon corny. I've since bought 3 floating dip tubes and will probably buy more. The mill (whole other story) is on hold. I think I'm going down a rabbit hole...

Brewing itself changes too. If you take some time off, you will eventually hear about new processes (and new grains and malts and yeast, etc) when you come back. Drez and I (and maybe others) are doing 30-minute boils. That was heresy years ago. Let's get you set up with one of these BLACK IRON DRAFT TOWERS too. When you click on that, throw your credit card in the pool first. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

The key is that you're liking it and having fun with it. It's always good to see someone who took a break and then came back to brewing.

Honestly, the most I've ever enjoyed brewing. Looking forward to 2 weeks from now when my family can partake in Marktoberfest.

The simple BIAB has been my biggest improvement in brewing. Never heard of it when I brewed before but it's made a huge difference with my brewing. So easy and way more efficient than my braid in a Cube. I also am loving the Tilt. The SPUNDit scares me a bit. Definitely, unknown territory.

Honestly, the most I've ever enjoyed brewing. Looking forward to 2 weeks from now when my family can partake in Marktoberfest. That's good to hear. I truly love to brew. I like to hear about new ingredients and processes, I like to try them out and see if they work, I like to exchange information with people who have tried all kinds of things and in the end... you have BEER!

Not sure why those Black Iron Draft Towers are so pricey... Seems like they'd be pretty cheap to build!

Not sure why those Black Iron Draft Towers are so pricey... Seems like they'd be pretty cheap to build! A number of others have said the same thing. Do you think you could find those pieces at a Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc. and build it? Would you be able to find the elbows, proper threaded pieces, etc? If you could and even if you didn't like the look of it, there is some great Rust-Oleum Hammered paints in Black, Bronze, Brown, Copper, etc. that would look pretty slick. Jim, maybe you could be our Iron Draft Tower ambassador and build us some towers. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I do like the look of them... very industrial. But that triple Perlick jobbie at $1,119? Why don't they just kick me in the groin?
