I don't typically spend a lot on cases of beer but I do like keeping a variety on hand. Lately, it's been beer from Victory since they are close and I'm there pretty often. Prices are good too, with most cases either $36 or $42 including tax. However, a local, well-attended beer fest that I go to is forgoing the fest due to COVID concerns and is instead offering a case of 24 different 16-ouncers from breweries near and far. $112 including fees. In total, 48 different breweries are participating so there are 2 cases available...wife and I bought one of each since the proceeds go to support a local historical society that's been hosting the fests for 20+ years. It works out to about $4.70/pint so cheaper than going out and the beers are supposed to be somewhat limited availability offerings.

Honestly not sure how much I have ever spent on a case of beer but it's not $112. I seem to remember being in the Outer Banks and Weeping Radish had a delicious Festbier on tap and I bought a case of 12oz bottles. I think it was $42. My dad was appalled. He said, You make your own beer and now you're going to buy a case of this stuff? For $42?!?!?!?"

That's not a bad price at all for good craft offerings, especially if the cases include beers that are hard to find.

The most I spent was $440 for 12 bottles of Westy 12. This was back before any of the charity releases. Damn I was stupid!

I wish we had that here. $440 for 12 bottles of beer. Drez, this is not pointed at you but I dislike the concept of 'rare, high-end beer' that goes for that kind of price. Or limited releases so bottles are a hundred bucks or tickets to an event with limited space so each ticket is $300 or something. No sir, not for me.

I enjoy Westy 12, but not at that price... was nice having it at the café outside the monastery though, so that cost me considerably more for that beer if I include airfare

If you break it down to singles or 4 packs i've probably spent more than $112 on a case. I think the most I've ever spent on a 4 pack is $20, which would be $120 for a "case". I've never been one to spend a lot for "must have" beers. The most expensive beers I've bought were Thomas Hardy's. I bought a bunch at ~$7/ea back around 2000 (I still have them somewhere...uh...i think). That was a crazy price for a single back then, nowadays you pay more than $7 for a mediocre bomber of IPA.

You mean to tell me you paid $36.66/beer? What else came with the beer?
I once paid ~$26.00 for a 750 ml bottle of DeuS Brut des Flandres, Mostly because the first homebrewer magazine I bought had a clone recipe and I was intrigued to see what I was missing.
For me, cases of beer are about economy and quantity. I look top get the best dollars per beer ratio. My current first choice is Tecate. Around here, I can get a 30 pack for about $20.00.
