I ordered a new stainless racking cane from Amazon and it said it was coming from Midwest Supplies. They're not my favorite place for numerous reasons but I ordered it anyway. It arrived today. I open the box and the bottom 6-8" of the cane looks like it was crushed by a monster truck and the plastic end cap for the bottom of the cane is missing. W in T actual F? What humanoid would pack and ship such a thing? I hit the RETURN button quickly.

I think they realized it was for someone who did not like them. So they stomped on it before packing.

I think they realized it was for someone who did not like them. So they stomped on it before packing. I'm sure you're right. FTR, one of my issues with them was that their shipping charges used to be egregious. I mentioned it to some other brewers a few times and got some knowing nods. Eventually, Midwest sent an email to their return customers stating that they INDEED had overcharged customers for FedEx shipping in the past and that the issue had been resolved. But then there was a thing where if you chose 'normal shipping' instead of 'priority shipping', they basically just sat on your order for a week. My order status was "order received" for about 7-8 days and then it changed to "packed" and eventually "shipped" and then it was another 3-4 days before it arrived. I sent them an email asking what was taking so long and they admitted that if you choose normal ground shipping, the order is a lower priority. Okay... that's all I need to hear.

That shipping sounds like Northern Brewer. I think they’re the same company. S.L.O.W. doesn’t begin to describe the glacially slow speed of their shipping. Stupid slow.
I much prefer MoreBeer. Fast, free, shipping.

Fast, free, shipping. Interesting, because I stopped using MoreBeer since their once fast turnaround began to slow considerably. This was during the peak of COVID, to be be fair, but it would take me a week, sometimes more, to get my order. And they were shipping from PA to PA. I started using Keystone Homebrew. I now get my orders in one or two days, a big deal if I’m ordering liquid yeast.

A week is a dream for me in N AL.
For example, I ordered from Northern Brewer 19 Aug. It hasn’t shipped yet. I ordered from them for a specific reason which I rarely do because of their shipping.
Edit: 30 Aug reply to a 29 Aug inquiry. “Thank you for the recent order. We have had some challenges over the last month, which has led to some delays. We are currently processing and shipping orders placed on 8/19. We are sorry for this delay understand this is not ideal, and we are trying to bring on additional labor to help alleviate the backlog. We do appreciate your continued patience and will ship out your order as soon as possible. Please let us know if you need anything else.”
