Beer work requires drinking beer.
Allegorical derivative: home brewing requires drinking homebrew.
🍻 Cheers

Beer work requires drinking beer. Allegorical derivative: home brewing requires drinking homebrew. 🍻 Cheers Well, if ya want. I stopped drinking while brewing a long, long time ago.

I usually brew early in the morning, so coffee for me.
However, yesterday I pulled an afternoon session and a couple of homebrews it was. No harm, no foul.

It's very often that I am brewing in the morning. I want to get it done and then leave the rest of the day so I can do something else. But it does happen that I find myself brewing on a Friday late afternoon/early evening and beer will usually make an appearance then.

I usually run in the mornings and don’t started brewing until 11-ish. I don’t get hammered. I have 4 oz taster glasses in the brewery. I have a few of those along the way. Sometimes I accelerate during cleanup

I get lazy when I drink beer, I end up slacking on getting the cleanup done if I drink while brewing. But the post brewday beer is a must for me.

I do get the cleanup done, but it's much more effort if I've been drinking. I'd rather get done by 1-2PM and then have half a dozen beers!

I guess it’s only a law at my house then. For me it’s part of the fun.

Useally, I brew late at night try to heat up strike water around 10 pm, and brew in the wee hours of the morning. Occasionally, there's a group brew on the weekends.
I've found out, that it's best not to partake until I reach the boil. By then, the MT is cleaned up, and just waiting on my timers for hops, drop in the IC, etc.
I've sat in those group brews were guys are having beer as soon as the water starts heating, then unexpectedly, things get forgotten- hops in particular. Also, I get lazy after a couple of beers- rather do all the laborious stuff sober. Once the BK is empty, I'll enjoy cleaning the kettle while having that 2nd beer!

I usually brew early so I drink coffee when I brew. The fermentation fridge sits right next to the serving fridge so in the interest of efficiency as I drop off the fermenter I figure why not a short pour. The only thing left to clean is the BK, pump, and slop sink by then so it saves a trip to the basement and is my reward for a successful morning. It’s usually noon + by then.

I've been known to have a beer during the boil, but I don't think I've ever had more than 1 beer while brewing.

I'm having a few beers right now as I clean the 4 kicked kegs from last weekend plus my 10g Torpedo that I fermented an IPA in last week. I hate cleaning kegs but it's a necessary evil.
