... I tested positive for covid last Friday. I was feeling a little run down and one day last week (Wednesday?) I went and grabbed a cup of coffee and couldn't taste it. Uh-oh. Went to a place nearby with quick results on PCR tests... POSITIVE. I checked because I'm supposed to fly to Dallas later this week for work and also a company Christmas party. My company told me to test again the day I'm supposed top fly and if it comes back negative, I should come. I actually feel pretty good except that my sense of taste and smell are completely shot. 100% shot.

It feels like a cold, to be honest. The lack of taste and smell is really weird. Like I could drink Hefeweizens and Belgians right now. Otherwise I feel pretty good and I have to assume that it's because I was vaxxed. I had the Pfizer shot in early April and then the second shot on 4/30. I did read that they might only last about 6 months and so here we are. On the Friday after Thanksgiving I was out with friends (about 10 of us) and we went to a couple watering holes, shared food, drank, no masks, etc. I was irresponsible. I also admit that I was getting to the point of thinking that we were about to beat this thing and I would emerge unscathed. It's good that I got it... it will keep me reminded that this thing is real. Cheers tommymorris.

Feel better, Ken! Here's hoping for a quick return of your senses of taste and smell!

Hey Ken where ya headed in Dallas? I grew up there.
I imagine you’ll be like my son: loose your taste, feel like crap a cpl days, then be good again. It took a while for the taste to come back but he’s good to go now. If you gotta get Covid that’s the one to have. Your body fights it and builds antibodies.
Here’s to your health. 🍻 Keep us posted.

BB: To the west... Office is in Colleyville and when I go I usually stay in Trophy Club. One of my coworkers owns a brewery in Dallas that he called Outfit Brewing and that's where the Christmas party is supposed to be. Going first thing Thursday for a PCR test to see if I fly or not. Cheers BB.

On Thursday morning I tested again and it came back positive. No trip, flight canceled. My sense of taste and smell is slowly returning and I am feeling about 95% right now. Very slight headache and stuffiness but honestly... I feel very close to normal. My guess is that if I tested again today I would be negative. No one else in my circle (and that I've had contact with in the past 2 weeks) shows any signs at all. This bug is very strange. Mild symptoms, asymptomatic, people possibly walking around shedding the virus without even knowing, etc.
Here's a wild one: I had a call from someone at the Illinois Dept. of Public Health. She knew I tested positive and asked me how I was doing, asked me why I got tested (because I was supposed to fly) and she was interested because I tested positive and I was vaxxed. I told her the timeline (felt symptoms on Monday 11/29 and was supposed to fly on Thursday 12/9). She said, "Based on that timeline, you should not fly until Friday 12/10. But I'll tell you what, I'll mark down that your symptoms started on Sunday 11/28 and then on the morning of 12/9 you will receive a letter from us stating that you're free to travel and that your not contagious any longer". Well, on that morning I tested positive. That doesn't give me much confidence in our public health department. I realize she was trying to work with me but she basically cleared me to walk through 2 airports, sit on a plane for 2½ hours, go into an office and attend a christmas party when I was currently positive with the virus. Maybe I was no longer contagious, I dunno.
