I was looking at some beer site and there was a discussion about English AK ale. I never heard of it and it seems a bit vague on specifics. Anyway, from what I deciphered, it looks like it's pale malt, flaked corn, and inverted sugar. I figure I'll use Verdant yeast. I don't have English hops, so I might just use Styrian Goldings. Not many IBUs anyway.

I found a thread on a forum that was all about English AK beer. All about - but what English AK beer is. I tried google and found several articles that assumed you knew what AK stood for and were familiar with the style.
If you got any info, or links, I would like to know.

There was another thread that I can't seem to find where I saw that flaked maize was used.

Bad start to a potential brew day. I burned the inverted sugar and it's nasty outside - cold and rainy.

Not exactly ideal conditions but I'm brewing anyway!

The second go around on the inverted sugar went much better. Looks like Lyle's Golden Syrup.

I might start using this recipe for inverted sugar syrup in my Belgians. It was very tasty.

The thought of having a "corny" flavor with the molasses intrigues my taste buds. I would also keep the IBU low and hope for a medium sweetness. With all of this, somehow candy corn comes to mind and might play well in the background ~ barely perceptable.
