I guess I haven't needed to shop for a while and when I weighed out my grain today, I realized it's time for an order. I see grain has a gradual increase but when did 34/70 climb to $6.99 (Morebeer). Holy crap.
Which leaves me to ask, has anyone used Cellar Science dry yeasts? They appear to be half the cost of most others. Makes me wonder. What say ye?

I think Tommy used Cellar Science. Don’t recall the outcome though.

RiteBrew has the best prices on yeast. $4.49 for 34/70. I typically order 3-4 packs when I order there.

I used the Cellar Science Cali once. It turned out fine. No issues at all. But, I never used it again. I read somewhere that it is the same as US-05. I have had US-05 ruin multiple batches with a peach flavor I don’t like. So, I decided to avoid the Cellar Science Cali just in case it is repackaged US-05. But, it could be repackaged BRY-97 or something else entirely.

Come to think of it, I did use the Cali yeast once and it was fine.

Cellar Science is flogged on Brewmaster Wholesale. Isn't Brewmaster the wholesale brand for Morebeer.

I got that peachy-apricot flavor in a beer made with US-05 and I don't think I ever used that yeast again... that had to be 15 years ago. I remember distinctly someone asking me "so what kind of fruit is in this beer?". My only guess is that I fermented it too cool or something and an ester was produced. I would say "warmer" but I'm pretty much always low in the temp range. Also, I do have a bottle of Cellar Science Clearzyme that I have been working my way through but that's probably a conversation for a different thread.

Thanks fellas. I might give it a go. I have become very good at reusing slurry but always want some dry back ups on hand. I enjoy 34/70 so much but crapped when I saw the $6.99 each
