I have 2124 and Omega 113 Mexican alternating now. I saw an ad for a Mexican Restaurant I've been to in Boulder called Centro. For Dad's day they had a special where dad could get a free 32-oz crowler of various beers, one of which was called "El Corn Amber Lager". I rubbed my chin a little bit and thought that was an interesting idea so I made up a recipe... I may brew this next weekend with the 113.

I have any old BYO that had a great article about brewing with corn and making Mexican lagers. Most of the recipes offered were a little weird in terms of most adding Agave nectar and a using Amarillo. They all looked interesting to say the least.

This beer is coming up here shortly. This week I'm brewing with 2124 and next weekend back to the Omega 113/Mexican.

There has been a lot of activity here lately... sister in town, then oldest son and his girlfriend, now my daughter is here and her boyfriend arrives tonight. Another sister and her husband arrive next weekend. So I am sneaking in a Tuesday afternoon brew and it will be this El Corn Amber Lager with Omega 113. My wife and daughter are kayaking this afternoon with other family members, racetrack on Thursday and Cubs game on Friday. MUST HAVE BEER!

It’s awesome you’ve got a good crowd visiting. That sounds great.

And each time someone from out of town is here, we invite those who live here (sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandma, grandpa, friends, etc) so there is a good gathering. We had about 20 people here last Sunday... all beer drinkers. Consumption is up so production needs to keep pace.

I wanted to mention that I opened a fresh pack (1-pound) of Liberty pellets for this beer. It's been awhile since I had some in the brewery and these came from Yakima Valley. Their aroma was outstanding and really fresh and vibrant. The description on YVH mentions this... Of the four triploid Hallertau Mittelfrueh varieties released, Liberty most closely resembles the Hallertau Mittelfrüh. I couldn't help but wonder what a helles or pilsner (or any German-style beer for that matter) would be like with Liberty instead of an authentic noble hop. These could successfully be an imposter for a Noble hop. These were THAT good.
