I just got a pack of WLP002. I have the following 3 brews planned.
1. 1957 Whitbread IPA- probably with Cascade instead of an English hop. 1957 Whitbread IPA is actually an ordinary bitter from the Shut-up about Barclays Perkins site. 2. A brown porter. Nothing crazy here. I originally copied this recipe from the MoreBeer site. It’s good. 3. Blonde Ale: 100% Simpson’s Golden Promise and Chinook hops for bittering and flavor additions. I am wondering what to expect on this one.
I may also brew an APA with the WLP002. I have never done an APA with this yeast though so I am not sure what to expect here either.

#3 sounds awesome. I think chinook late in the boil is highly underrated.

Is WLP002 the American/English mix ale yeast?

Is WLP002 the American/English mix ale yeast? No. It is the same as Wyeast 1968. English ale yeast.

It’s a more orange citrus as opposed to Cascade which is more grapefruit and pine. I’ve never made a blonde with WLP002 and never a Golden Promise smash.

100% GP is what I understand is Timothy Taylor Landlord according to Gordon Strong. I just brewed a nod to his version. Of course with English hops but nevertheless a tried and true grist.
I have an APA using Chinook, Centennial, and Cascade coming up. All late boil and whirlpool.

I have done Chinook Cascade and Chinook Centennial APAs. Both are great. I haven’t mixed all 3.

Denny's Imperial Porter base recipe is really quite nice. I've also been thinking about a Blonde or a Cream Ale to put on deck. As much as I want to crack open the Bayern, somehow Ales are sparking more interest. I have an 05 and an 04, maybe I'll do the drez mix again.
