I apparently live just in (or on the edge of) the temporary flight restriction airspace of Biden's house in Delaware. About a month ago, a small plane took off from a local airport about 3 miles from here without realizing the restriction was in place; the plane apparently had its comms off too. Fighter jet(s) were deployed to escort the plane back to the airport. I imagine the pilot had to change their shorts when they got back home. This past Saturday, Biden was back in Delaware and again the fighter jets started circling. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any pictures but the sound is unforgettably awesome!

I live about 5 miles from his neighborhood (DE is small). every time he is in town, the road that I take to work, is clogged up with Secret Service, Cops, etc at all hours, holding up a big through-fare to highways. The local airport is also a short drive. there has been a noticeable amount of more air traffic whenever he flies in.
it was similar whenever he was in town as VP, but it wasn't as noticeable. locally, a lot of folks aren't happy with it.

It's always weird to see how this stuff goes. Someone like Clinton or GB1 was in Chicago once and I was on the Tri-State and the traffic was slow. I sort of weaved my way through and eventually I see that there are Escalades (or something... Suburbans) ahead of me and there is one in each lane driving the same speed. I also see a limo ahead of them and then way up in front, three more Escalades. My wife and I were also driving through Nashville once at the very moment that Al Gore was arriving for something. The interstate was completely shut down and we had to get off at an exit and we had no idea where we were. Had to stay on a secondary road for miles and hop back on when we got to the other side of Nashville.

When I was in NYC, a few times I saw some official phalanx of black limousines and the escort cop cars and motorcycles going up the Avenue. There was no way to know which of the many limos had the important person in them. I assume this was part of the security strategy.
I wonder what it would be like to live or work near the UN building.

I was walking across when President HW Bush's helicopter landed in the parking lot of Anaheim Stadium- never seen so many guys dressed in black suits and black limos in my life.He got out waved to nobody- hopped in a limo and sped off to the stadium. I sat down in my seat and looked a few rows behind me up in the private suite section and there he was eating popcorn and surrounded by secrete service. The Angels were playing the Rangers. About the 7th inning stretch a helicopter buzzed the stadium, and they announced on the PA that it was the President. They did a couple of laps then flew off.

When I was in the USAF in Albuquerque, my wife worked in a lab waaaaaay out at the end of the road on base. One day I went to lunch at her lab and while I was there, a load of nuclear warheads had landed and were being un-loaded. (largest nuclear weapons storage facility in the free world at Kirtland AFB, by the way) Somehow, on the way back to the hospital I got behind the usual roadblocks (I guess they forgot to block one of the roads.) and found myself way too close to the weapons unloading business that was going on. Not pleasant having an 19 year old enlisted guy aiming a 50 cal at you because you surprised him. Eek.

I had VP Bush on my acft once.
We had to arrive and hanger the acft at NAS Kingsville about a week prior to his arrival. They had acft experts inspect the acft like ants on a Twinkie. Once inspected we were no longer allowed on the acft and were escorted from the hanger.
The next day we were each assigned a guy to accompany us while we moved the acft out of the hanger and prepped it for the flight. Off to the side were several guys with their arms in the end of a sports bag and comms in their ears. I am sure there were other guys we didn’t see.
We started the acft and sat at ground idle until Air Force 2 showed up, he got off it and into a Cadillac with a bunch of black SUV(s) in a line in front and back of it. They convoyed him over to us. A bunch of guys jumped out of the vehicles in front and back with their arms in the back of gym bags and set up a loose perimeter. It was crazy because we were on a military installation.
A few seconds later, his door was opened he stepped out of the car and in a cpl steps was on the acft. All his butt flies following. We went to flight RPM took off and flew him to the King Ranch — I remember it being about a 15 min flight. ...with four backup acft just out of sight in loose trail. I am sure there were fighters in the area we never saw. We had the sky to ourselves and were given immediate takeoff clearance.
When we got there another line of vehicles with another bunch of dudes with their hands stuck in the back of gym bags picked him up and they drove off.
It was about a week of prep and inspection and general PITA hoop jumping — not to mention cost — for a 15 min mission.
During the flight he plugged in and was talking to us. He was pretty cool. Telling us about his flying experience and asking about the acft.
