Did you ever get the Pixel for your new phone? I know you mentioned it.
I picked up the 3a last fall and I really like it. I liked the tool that allowed you to bring all the apps and data from your old phone (even an iPhone) to your Pixel and the battery life on it is amazing. I've probably had it six months now and I still go 2-3 days without needing to charge it. May be the best phone I have ever owned. The camera is awesome too. Cheers.

I got both the wife and I 3AXL's. Love them. The camera is great and battery life is crazy compared to my old LG.

I had an LG G4 and G5 back-to-back and I actually really liked both of those phones and the camera on both of those was also excellent. The Pixel 3a (regular) is more streamlined (higher and skinnier than the G5) and it's lighter. I also like the way that photos can be saved to Google Photos and searched easily, etc. Getting a new phone for your wife is not for the squeamish. I'm not sure I would attempt it but in my house everyone has an iPhone except me. Cheers.

I'm still rocking a Pixel 2, no complaints. When I need to get a new one it will definitely be a new Pixel.

I'm still rocking a Pixel 2, no complaints. When I need to get a new one it will definitely be a new Pixel. I heard that the 4 was getting poor reviews and that the battery life was questionable. I had the chance to get the 4 or the 3a and I chose the 3a because the reviews were better. I heard the 2 was solid. What I really liked about this was that I got an unlocked Pixel 3a from Amazon for $368. It came, I slipped in the SIM card and everything just worked. No trip to the Verizon store necessary, no $999 for someone's flagship phone (or more!), etc. I can also use it on any network so I'm a happy guy.

That part always makes me nervous.

That part always makes me nervous. Me too. I always make sure my backup settings are good so that I might be able to restore from the cloud, etc. but no need with this... everything came over without issue. I think mine is 64GB storage and my LG allowed for expandable storage (and I had a 128gb microSD card in there) so that made me nervous too but you can store pictures and docs on Google so no worries there either. I have over half the storage on my phone still available so it's all good. I feel like networks and phone manufacturers try to make all of this more confusing than necessary so that people will go into the store and pay a premium just to make sure nothing bad happens. Afterall, most people place a huge weight on the importance of their phone and I get it. It was just nice to be able to do that without the help and the price tag.

Ken, one thing you might want to keep record of is the IMEI number from the phone you had previous. If you go to switch companies and you try to port the number to another provider, the records they look at will be the last "official" imei number on your account.
I ran into that with Verizon a few months ago. I switched my wife and daughter over to Visible (owned by Verizon and so far it kicks ass at $25 per line per month).

Been thinking about getting a 3a for my wife. We're both on Google Fi so there are only a handful of phones that are fully compatible. I still like my Moto X4 she's on a Moto G6. Google Fi is selling the 3a for $299 but I'm hoping the price drops a bit. Our phones are still working great but I like having a capable backup phone after the Nexus 5x disaster.

On my account at Verizon, I would log in and it would show a picture of my old phone (LG), when I got the Pixel I logged into my account and it automatically switched the picture to a Pixel which surprised me. Not sure if they know my new IMEI number or not but I still have my old phone and I could make a quick note of it. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. Took me 3 days to figure out why we couldn't get the number to port. PITA. But worth it in the long run.
