I worked for 20 years on heavy equipment, have bulging disks, 2 shoulder surgeries, recent knee surgery, hernia surgery, arthritic finger joints, left hip pain, and creak when I move. The left hip hurts due to the Right knee surgery--compensation. One of my co-workers told me about turmeric for my knee swelling awhile back and I tried some from Wal-mart. It didn't seem to do much for my knee but my back felt great. I ran out of it and had read some about it that it needed to have black pepper extract (bioperine) to be effective. The Wal-Mart brand did NOT have the extract. Before I ordered any I went a few weeks w/o it. I started having to take ibuprofen or Aleve nightly to keep the joint pain at bay and I was still groaning every time I got up from sitting due to my left hip pain. I ordered the turmeric pictured below (with bioperine) and started taking it a few days ago. I am astounded at how well this works. Better than Aleve/naproxen or ibuprofen and much better than the Wal-Mart stuff. My hip is fine, my back is fine, my thumbs quit hurting--they are beat up from extensive air hammer use as a semi-trailer wreck rebuilder. The dosage is 2000mg/2 pills but I am only taking 1 nightly. It is cold and wet here in NW AR right now and normally I'd be creaking around in pain but I'm not. I laughed at myself yesterday at work because I groaned when I got up from sitting in anticipation of my left hip killing me but it wasn't hurting at all lol. Without this stuff I couldn't straighten my right knee fully w/o pain. That caused me to limp and overuse the left side causing the left hip to hurt more and my back to hurt more. I'm sitting here fully extending my Right knee w/o ANY pain. Haven't taken Aleve or ibuprofen since I restarted taking this. Turmeric/curcumin is an anti-inflammatory and has the same possible side effects as NSAIDs so if you take this read all the warnings/drug interactions etc. I just hope someone else in pain can get the relief from it like I have been.

Very interesting. How old are you, Chils? I occasionally have slight back and hip issues. Very minor but I understand your concern about being seated and then go to get up... I usually let out an audible UGH. I was talking to a guy I work with (couple years older than me) and he told me he drove for about 4 hours a couple weekends ago. He mentioned how his hip was bugging him and he was squirming in his seat trying to get comfortable. His wife thought he had to pee. I told him I feel the same way after driving for hours. Where did you get that product?

Where did you get that product? I'm 51. I have had back problems since my early 20s. Herniated L4/5 disk in 2004. Ripped off my left bicep tendon in 2009 with surgical reattachment. Surgery to clean bone spurs out of my right shoulder in late 2009. Umbilical hernia repair in 2017. My left thumb has a big bone spur from holding the barrel of an air hammer for cutting off millions of rivets in my trailer wreck rebuild career. The diesel truck stuff was no picnic but the 13 years of trailer rebuild was terrible for my body.
I DO NOT take any other meds for pain.
I got this from Amazon.

Good stuff. I am not into pills at all. I take a daily multi-vitamin but I am really green on pain pills. I had a dental issue awhile back which led me to Aleve which was great. The doctor also prescribed an 800mg Motrin pill which is basically like taking 4 Advils (ibuprofen). But for general, daily creeks and things, it would be nice to have something that would help and I have heard great things about tumeric and not just for pain. I am 55 and my issue is that I have absolutely no regard for my body. I climb ladders and lift things I probably shouldn't and I go up on the roof and ride my bike 30+ miles and jump over fences, etc. My back and my hips give me occasional trouble. My knees seem okay at the moment. I'm four years older than you but your experience makes you older than me.

I said long ago that I didn't want to end up hooked on narcotics and I've limited their use to right after surgeries. I probably aged my joints +10 years or more wrenching for 20 years.
This stuff is like night and day on the pain. For me ibuprofen would cut my pain 50%, Aleve 25%. This stuff seems like 85+%. I don't know that I've been able to fully extend my right knee w/o pain since my surgery. I'm sitting here kicking it straight with no pain right now. It's almost unbelievable.

I overdid it today. Dug post holes, hoisted bags of concrete mix, used my brushcutter to take down dozens of saplings out in the woods, and ran a leaf blower as well as dragging old fenceposts out of the woods and busting concrete off the bottom of them.
Normally I'd be stove up right now. I took an extra turmeric today, still just right at the 2000mg dose and I'm OK. My back is tired but I'm not in pain. I can tell I worked hard and my body is fatigued but I'm not in pain right now. I haven't taken any ibuprofen or naproxen either.

chils,
I took a flyer on some of this stuff. If you recommend it, I figured it is worth a shot.
Wow!
That stuff is working for me big time. It is doing so well, I am assuming some of the benefit is placebo. Not that I care one way or the other.
Doctor gave me a script for Tramadol. I got my 10 tablets. I am working hard to stay out of the deep end of the medication pool. I am thinking your tumeric is going to help keep me right.
Anybody out there ailing, hurting or got some soreness, give this try. It is cheap enough that you got nothing to lose.

I know for a fact my relief is not placebo as I am extremely skeptical on supplement effectiveness after seeing many people die from going off their prescribed meds in the hospital.
In fact my pain relief completely caught me off guard about 3 days after starting this new bottle with the bioperine in it. I didn't even think about it and someone asked me why I was groaning when I stood up from a chair and I had to answer that I was having L hip pain before but wasn't now and that I was groaning for NO reason at all lol.

Turmeric is easy to grow and Bioperine is black pepper -seems like this stuff would be easy to make at home.
