I assume the virus is having some impact on Amazon and UPS and FedEx too. I ordered something from Amazon yesterday and I got a notification that it was coming today. Okay. Then around 3pm today I got notification that said it would not arrive until Oct 1 or Oct 2. Okay. Then I get another notification that says it's out for delivery and it's arriving today! Okay. Here it is about 8:50pm central but... no delivery.

Yeah, I've been getting weird shipping dates. Mostly lately I've been getting all my stuff early. Ordered a pair of garage door torsion springs and really needed them quickly (Door stuck down) but it said I wouldn't get them for 2 weeks. They arrived 3 days later.
Ebay has been pretty good lately on quick ship times.

I've got an app on my computer that can track multiple deliveries. It can track most deliveries, except for Amazon (unless Amazon uses one of the other services instead of their own.) Anyway, I've noticed several times this year (especially with USPS deliveries) that it will say "Out for delivery", then when it doesn't arrive that day, the message will change to "In Transit, arriving late", and then just "In Transit". When I see that happen, I can usually expect it to be 2-3 days later than expected.
I've also seen a few deliveries bounce back and forth between 2 USPS facilities before continuing on to me.

I've also seen a few deliveries bounce back and forth between 2 USPS facilities before continuing on to me. It's always weird to watch some of the wasteful things USPS does WRT shipping. I've seen my packages received locally and then shipped 5 hrs north of me, then back down here again.

it's always a pita to order from Amazon, they tell you it's been delivered, but what they didn't say is it was "delivered" to the USPS, that then sits on it... frustrating

With USPS, all bets are off. I have seen it say it won't arrive for 5 days and it arrives today. The opposite is true... Arriving today! translates to It'll be here next week! The Amazon thing yesterday was really weird. It was a roller coaster. After 9pm I got another notification saying "On the way but running late". I look at Amazon the way Dorothy looked at the Wizard of Oz so I'm not going to complain or attempt to understand.

I think that they are switching over to Amazon direct hired delivery personnel, so they may be working out some of the kinks. We had a delivery yesterday. For the first time in years, there was a knock at the door and a gal in an Amazon shirt was at the door with two boxes. She was driving a white van with professional Amazon logos on it. First time it hasn't been delivered via UPS to our house. And boy, did I appreciate that she ensured we got the delivery, rather than a drop and dash.
I'm betting they are switching over too and just working out the kinks.

We've had direct Amazon delivery for some time now. Usually dark gray commercial delivery vans with Amazon logos. Lately, I've gotten an email with a photo of the package on my doorstep after it's delivered. Still drop-and-dash, though!

I assume it's different based on where you are but we get white vans with an Amazon logo or black & blue vans and even the occasional white ENTERPRISE van with no Amazon logo. They snap a pic of the dropoff location and send it. That alone has come in handy. One day last week I had three boxes and ALL THREE were for the neighbors. Then I got a notification that my box was delivered and when I looked at the pic it was of that same neighbor's house... so I went over there and grabbed my box off their porch.

Had another box hand delivered tonight! Gotta say... I'm impressed with them.
