My last RiteBrew order was slow. But not their fault, as I noticed it sat in Chicago for 3 days. Definitely a good place to order from. Great prices for grain and especially dry yeasts. Received another order yesterday. Besides a hop problem, it seems I also have an addiction for buying dry yeast. The 8 packs I received yesterday gives me a total of 23! I better get brewing!!!

I have an order that should be here tomorrow from Rite. First place I go. Also, nothing wrong with a stockpile of dry, makes it easy to brew anytime.

I probably use dry yeast at least 75% of the time anymore. If not more.

I was on Ritebrew this past week for something (it was either Vienna or Dark Munich) and the options were not good for some reason. I think it was the Dark Munich... my only option was Briess Bonlander. There wasn't an option from Weyermann or Best Malz or Avangard, etc. so I ended up over at Label Peelers. Order arrived in 2 days and prices were good so very similar experience to Ritebrew.

I am not sure if it was the Suez canal issue or something else but a local brewery posted a couple weeks back about getting the last 5 sacks of Weyerman Pils available on the east coast. I wonder if there are other grain issues here or coming?

I am generally open to new grains but that said, I have made two beers with Briess Full Pint Pilsner (new to me) and also Briess Bonlander Munich and neither of those beer were stellar... but that could be the brewer too. I now see that Briess Full Pint has been discontinued so that's interesting. Best Malz and Swaen have both made excellent beer here so maybe I should focus on them.

I'm going to be making some ales eventually so I was shopping today for 2-row, pale ale malt, etc. Montana Craft Malt at Label Peelers was $41 for a 55-lb sack of their 2-row. But then shipping via FedEx was $30! That is the highest I have seen. I went over to Ritebrew and they had one bag of Great Western 2-row for $44 and even their local shipping company (SpeeDee) was $22. I ordered from them... $66 instead of $71 and I have never used the Montana and it's been many years since I used GW. Shipping costs are going crazy?!

I use GW a lot. I normally buy from MoreBeer and stock the cart until I get free shipping.

I do. I used a lot of Rahr and Briess in the past but settled on GW. I also used a lot of Mecca Grade but I cannot justify the price for the small difference I get when using it.

I use GW a lot. It tastes good and the extraction very good.
I have just tried Viking Two Row Extra Pale in a Blonde Ale. I am looking forward to trying that beer. I at least like the idea of it. Although I wonder how different it is versus Pilsner malt.
