I went to LP looking for a few things but I couldn't complete my order how I wanted because they didn't have everything I needed. So I went to Ritebrew. I got a 55-lb sack of Best Malz Pils for $50 (The Swaen Pils at LP was $51), a 25-pack of muslin/hop bags for some upcoming DH beers and also this CraftMeister Alkaline cleanser that Denny suggested either here or over at AHA. I wanted the EasyClean but neither place had that for some reason. Plus... I ordered Monday evening and the stuff just showed up. About 40 hours after ordering it. That's good stuff right there.

They are my go-to. Pretty hard to beat unless your looking for a special malt or something they don't have.

Big fan or Rite also. They seem to always have what I need.

What was shipping for a sack? I'm inside their local shipping area where they use a regional shipper called Spee-Dee. I think the shipping for the whole order was $18. If you apply all of that to the grain and call it $68, that's still about $20 cheaper than it would cost me to buy it here... if I could find a local place that would sell by the sack. I've been doing Label Peelers for sacks of grain but Ritebrew was actually cheaper. For you... the shipping would have been more, no question. Still... check Label Peelers and see what their SWAEN line would cost you with shipping to SC. You might be surprised.

Would like to try them but I'd take a reaming on shipping unfortunately. MoreBeer is my usual since orders over $60 get free shipping. They don't have Copper Malt though

I guess I'll continue getting my sacks from the local shop. $61 for Avengard pils. I'll have to start checking with local breweries to see if they have sacks for sale. I'll probably be using pilsen the majority of the time, as Belgian ales are my go to.

Never used RiteBrew. I like their grain quick select page! If you were in their local shipping circle you might like them better. But shipping costs and timeframes are only a part of it. These are FAST and orders are correct every time. The fact that the shipping is better (this also goes for LP... the shipping is reasonable) just makes it that much better. I also feel like I'm dealing with a small group here, not a big company that has multiple locations, etc. They work harder and do better because they have to and I like that.

I had some things to pick up from Ritebrew. I was hoping for 940 but they do not carry White Labs so I ordered the Omega Mexican Lager strain. Has anyone compared it to 940? In the description there is something like "White Labs offers the same (or very similar) yeast under the name '940'" so that's encouraging. I also needed some Munich Light so I picked up Best Malz but then I needed Munich Dark and the only two products they had were by Briess. The first one was 30L which I passed on. Munich Dark should not be 30L, right? Then they had Briess Bonlander Munich that was a 10L and I picked up 10 pounds of that. Has anyone used that malt? Surprised they didn't have a decent Euro dark Munich malt.

Scored a 50# bag of DME a buddy and me spilt for yeast starters. Best deal around! My 1-liter starters have 100 grams of DME. That’s 113 starters each for you and your buddy? Just to pile on, that would be 5+ years of brewing for me.

My last RiteBrew order was slow. But not their fault, as I noticed it sat in Chicago for 3 days. Definitely a good place to order from. Great prices for grain and especially dry yeasts.

They sent it to my house just to see if there was anything in your order that I wanted. But I didn't get to it for three days... then I sent it on its way.
