I inadvertently found out how to manipulate buyers like this. "Greedy dog" technique. I had a similar situation. 2 buyers. One meeting after work. The other asking for a reduced price. I told the second one. "A guy is coming at 5pm to buy it at full price. If you make it before him it's yours at full price." He was here in 20mins with cash in hand. When guy #1 got here, he saw my phone was blowing up the entire time. He knew that he had to go to 3500 or lose the car. I don't necessarily want to be underhanded about it but guy #2 said 3500... actually another guy said $3800 and texted me a picture of his sorry-ass minivan. But at some point you take what's good and go. You don't want to get into Hey man, I'm really interested but payday isn't until the 15th and... No sir. You're either ready to buy or you're not. Heck yeah. Cash is king, face to face, no holds, I'm not messing around with waffles when someone else is ready to go.

I forgot to leave out this detail: The guy who bought this van runs his own used car business. I went to his website and he's got a lot of 10-12 year-old cars for what I would call "decent" prices. I checked his site occasionally to see if my van was on there but no. Last week I found it on there. The trunk was open so they got that working. The dings on the outside looked like they had been "touched up" with aftermarket paint. It was quite obvious. It looked okay but most of the cleaning was done BY ME! They wanted $8800 for it. I checked again today and it's down to $7500. They may have recharged the AC but I did that last year and it stopped again so there is clearly a leak in the system. Remote doesn't work either and the leather is still torn. I could see someone saying that $7500 was still WAY too much.
