This thing has been beaten like a rented goalie. All three of my kids drove it in high school. Driven to northern Wisconsin, Texas, Colorado and Atlanta many times. It's been at a frat house in Texas for months and then another college house in Colorado for months as well. The back window was smashed by neighborhood street-toughs in Boulder (replaced). The AC does not work and [this is new] the trunk hatch will not open. There is torn leather on the seats, the thing has almost 104,000 miles on it and the outside is a trainwreck... lots of dings, scratches, etc. The KBB range for this vehicle (I described it as being in FAIR condition... the lowest) is $2400 to $3600. I honestly can't see getting $2400 for this thing although it does run and was just driven back from Colorado (by my wife) and it did the job. Do I just sell it as it is to someone who is desperate for wheels or would use it for parts? It does run. The automatic sliding doors work. It's just appalling to look at. Clean it up and just dump it for $2k? $1500?

I just looked local on my Craigslist and I see the same year with 192K going for 3500. That one does have AC tho. If you would take 1500 to get rid of it I say list it for 2000 and let them negotiate down.

The place said there was no leak in the system so they just recharged the refrigerant and everything worked... until it didn't. So there must be a leak in the system. AC can be spendy to repair so I don't really want to go there. I will clean the bejesus out of the inside and I will wash the outside and do a little pressure-wash of some spots in the wheel wells, etc. It will look better but there is no helping this beast. 192,000 miles for $3500? Damn. I only have about half those miles. It must be in MUCH better shape. If this van could talk... WHOO BOY.

I might be content with less and just waving goodbye to it. When I have had things around here that I'm done with (old TVs, lawn furniture we no longer use, leftover planks from hardwood flooring, etc) I put it on CL for either "very little" or even free. People flock to it. I do not want this thing in my driveway. There are now 4 cars here for just me and my wife and that will not work. I might price it so that it just goes quickly. The AC is one thing and the cosmetic issues on the outside are unfortunate for sure but I wish I could get the trunk open. I found a number of vids explaining how to get it open but none of them worked. One video explained that the back window broke and pieces of glass ended up in the lock mechanism and I'm thinking this could be the issue although my wife and son tell me that the trunk was opening and closing without issue last week so that's a mystery. Sometime over the weekend I will clean out the inside and wash the outside. Then I'll figure out how to get rid of it. Hey, maybe an insurance scam!

I spent some time this afternoon cleaning this thing up. Whoo boy was it filthy dirty. The good: It runs. Both power sliders work. Backup camera works. Sunroof opens and closes. Power seats work. Heated seats work. It's a Honda so it's a reliable and dependable car. The bad: The AC does not work. The trunk (just recently) will not open. That one peeves me. There are many dings and scratches. The remote does not work. There is torn leather on the armrests. I got it pretty clean. I think I'll ask $2500 assuming someone is going to try to give me less. My wife said "go for FIVE!". I said, "Five dollars?".

Put it on CL tonight for $2500. Got $3500. That's awesome. Did someone call and say I'll give $3500? First guy called and said he could be here in 15 minutes. Another guy called and said he wanted it but I said someone else was on their way. Second guy said he'd give me 3500. I called guy #1 and told him that and he said, "I'm almost there. Let me look at it and if I like it I'll give you 3500" and that's what happened. I must have had a hundred calls and texts. Guy Zelle'd me part of it last night and is coming with a cashier's check today for the rest.

"Greedy dog" technique. I had a similar situation. 2 buyers. One meeting after work. The other asking for a reduced price. I told the second one. "A guy is coming at 5pm to buy it at full price. If you make it before him it's yours at full price." He was here in 20mins with cash in hand.

He knew that he had to go to 3500 or lose the car. I don't necessarily want to be underhanded about it but guy #2 said 3500... actually another guy said $3800 and texted me a picture of his sorry-ass minivan. But at some point you take what's good and go. You don't want to get into Hey man, I'm really interested but payday isn't until the 15th and... No sir. You're either ready to buy or you're not.
