I've got a 1992 Miata that my wife and I bought about a month before she became pregnant with our first child. About 7 yrs ago, I did some upgrades consisting of new paint w/ racing stripes, exhaust, intake, shocks, springs, wheels, tires, and roll bar. Added a new top last year. I love that car. It's a blast on the track. It corners like a snake in a rat hole. I appreciate the "analog-ness" of it: no abs, no power steering, no traction control. However, after our last track session, I came away wanting more. I considered a used Porsche 997 or 998 as the entry fee isn't bad. But the up-keep on a German car is pricey, so I decided to stick with my trusty old Miata. It's headed back to the shop for a new header, radiator, clutch, and lightened flywheel. Then come racing seats and harnesses. If I'm not satisfied, next will be some sort of forced induction.

I've always like Miatas. The newer ones look cool. I have a 2011 Mustang Convertible that I drive during the warmer months and I love it. A Miata would do but alas... my wife said "American only".

Great looking Miata. I'm glad you are having fun with it. We have a 96 model with 60,000 miles on it. Bought in ND 12 years ago with 40,000 on it.
I had and sold a 71 Corvette and driving the two back to back must admit the Miata was 10x the car the old vette was. Better handling, comfort, and feel(sportiness). Felt like going from a canoe to a kayak.

I remember as as a kid making fun of them. Back in 1992 I was a freshman in HS so I thought it looked like a toy. Not I appreciate the look more and that is a sharp looking car. A car that I would never fit in . Someday I hope to have a fun car/truck like that to tool around in.

Wife and I had a 2008 Limited Edition with the "ice blue" paint, brown leather interior with blue stitching and brown soft top. The car was a blast especially since my DD was a 4-door Wrangler. Handled like a go-cart but felt a bit slow after I traded the Jeep for a VW Golf R. The Miata was very much a 2 or 3 season car in PA and, unfortunately, we rarely went a week without some jackass cutting us off. Traded her in for a 2005 BMW convertible.

Picked up some race seats and harnesses for the Miata today. That should be a fun project. Still waiting for the other parts to come in.

Just about got the race seats done. This project definitely forced me out of my comfort zone- I'd never drilled a hole in a car. Drilling out spot welds is a bit of a tedious task too...

I had an early one. My first new car. What a phenomenal vehicle it was! I loved that car, issue free for the 9-10 years I owned it.

It's wild because I hear nothing but love for this vehicle. It seems like no one has a bad word for it and that's unusual. I always liked the look and I always liked a convertible. We need to get Noofus in here!
