As I was grabbing ribs for the weekend I remembered this thread so I grabbed spares instead of my normal baby backs. Plan to smoke 2 pork butts tomorrow and the spares on Sunday.

That sounds like an awesome weekend. Our weather has been really nice lately but you can tell the days are getting shorter and the chance to have a nice afternoon by the grill will get slimmer and slimmer. We have had some chilly nights already so we have to clutch some of these nice days now or they'll be gone for 6+ months. I'll probably plan one more rib day this fall. Enjoy the smoke Drez.

Dude... you know, it IS possible to make ribs in winter. You just have to man up and put on your parka and snowboots!

I guess I see the smoking of ribs as a "nice weather" activity because it takes hours. Also, my charcoal grills are a good 150' from the house and the spot where the grills are located often end up getting drifts of snow built up so the haul out there would require more effort. Maybe I should set up a little spot in the small shed back there with a chair and table and just hang out back there and check the grill occasionally.

Or you know... bring the smoker closer to the house during the winter perhaps? You aren't going to be using the rest of your yard at that time of the year, so it doesn't really matter.

My wife specifically asked me to move the charcoal grills further from the house so she doesn't have to smell smoke.
