Everything at the house turns into Pandora's box. The last water heater, I replaced, and it was a PITA. Now older and wiser, a pro is going to do the work. Many old valves need replacing and I'm not "sweating" it (pardon the pun). The downside is cost, but the upside is from where the water heater is in the garage, I asked the plumber to run pipe from the heater to the front of the garage with two valves and leave one end wild (25' approx). This will afford me to fill the kettle without having to trampse fermenters of water from the kitchen sink to the garage
