I started a thread over the other forum as a chronical of my change over to electric. I'll post those pics if anyone else wants to see them.
Just finished wiring up the high voltage side of the box- all that's left is the control voltage side for the PIDs. Waiting on some wire.
The inside of the box is a rat nest at the moment, but nothing ty-raps cant fix. Just wanted to share.

Fail .. no Flux Capacitor!
Once you go electric you wonder what took you so long.

The supply house didn't have any Flux Capacitors rated for 1.21 jigawatts.

Other than the fact that you don't have to go outside (Nancies! ), give me all the benefits of going electric.

Other than the fact that you don't have to go outside (Nancies! ), give me all the benefits of going electric. - No noise from a propane burner
- Ultimate temp control
- Easy to set up so you can have water warm when you wake up
Inside - Heat goes right into the wort and not around it like a flame
- It is cool!

It's going to take a LONG time to get to a boil with 65 watts.

Other than the fact that you don't have to go outside (Nancies! ), give me all the benefits of going electric. -Never have to worry about running out or picking up Propane -no nasty fumes to worry about, so brewing indoors! (I've been a garage brewer since day one..lol) -programmable temperature control, so no babysitting or jockeying around with the burner. -efficient use of energy. all the heat is in the vessel your using. -it shaves off a lot of time waiting for water/wort to heat up. con: - start up price is significantly more pricey then a propane set up. I did everything DIY, sourcing out good parts without breaking the bank, waiting on sales, etc. I think total cost for everything, which includes new kettles, exhaust fan, 50 amp GFI Breaker and some specialty parts from brewhardware.com, off the hand, I have a little over a grand wrapped up in this. turn key systems are close to 5 grand, as a comparison.

It's going to take a LONG time to get to a boil with 65 watts. lol- that's the goofy name for the brewery. before installing florescent lights in the garage, all the light to be had was a single 65 watt incandescent lamp from the garage door opener. my 3rd or 4th brew was at night, and the name just stuck in my head.

The good news is 65W of LEDs will be about as bright as the sun. I have a couple of 150W LED fixtures I bought to light up the basketball area outside my barn. I got two but it really only takes one to light up the area enough to play. Don't look directly into the light!!!

Been installing/maintaining alot of LED lighting at work; parking lot pole lights, interior lights, etc. They work great! Until they take a crap; what I cant stand about these fixtures, no serviceable parts. Just buy a new fixture!
