Really like this thread! Willing to continue it; as I brew by my lonesome during the overnight. Shall I just post to this thread to continue? Are you going to brew some Hurricane Creek? It’s pretty good for sure. Mine hasn’t been dry hopped yet but it has a ton of hop flavor. I can! I dont have the exact ingredients; (fresh out of apollo and bry-97), but I can make something of what I have in stock. Off the hand, in stock, Magnum and CTZ for hops. For yeast, A07 from Imperial. I can make something work.

But, then I screwed up. I used my regular C40 (Briess) instead of the Great Western I specifically bought for this brew. I just realized that tonight when I saw the unopened bag of GW C40.

Don’t sweat the small stuff Tommy. Like you said, close enough is good enough. Your beer will be great. After the tasting, we need to decide how to improve the recipe. I look for any and all input.

My FG was 1008. I kegged my beer this morning. It still tastes great. This is my first time using Cryo hops. I think the Cryo Centennial is giving tons of citrus without any brack or grassy flavors.

I moved this keg over to the serving side today. When I do that I put the spigot on and take ~4 oz for a sample. The hop taste is where I imagined but there is a bit of hop ‘bite’. Also, it’s still a bit cloudy. Not bad but not as clear as I’d like just yet. So, it’ll condition another week at serving temp and should be ready for Memorial Day.

I like the hop bite. It is more bitter than I expect for a blonde but it’s a nice APA. The bite may fade. Mine has some haze also. From the looks of it I think it will be clear in another week. The hop flavors are great.

Tommy brought his wife and son for the taste test this evening. My son joined us as well. We each did blind triangles and I gotta say… I couldn’t tell the difference. I think Tommy got it first time and my son got it on the second try. I never did get it right 😂 The difference they detected was a slight hop difference 🤷♂️ Tommy also brought a very well made Pils. Unfortunately, I am sucking on beer right now given the hernia downtime and travel. For the first time since I began homebrewing over a decade ago, I am out of homebrew. 😳 It’s never happened and I can’t believe it. I am trying to solve that problem with one beer about halfway thru fermentation and a cpl more beers planned back-to-back. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun to brew the same beer and have a taste test between the processes. The conversation carried us well into the evening out on the big deck and we hope to have them out to share some more beers soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

…and here’s Dwain taste testing while simultaneously letting his dog out of the house. He is multi-talented (Dwain that is)! The color of the beers was identical. I noticed a difference in hop flavor. His had the same hop flavor but I thought mine had more of that. I think that is because my dry hops are dropped in the keg and left there permanently. His are added with a few days left in fermentation but removed from the beer when he transfers to the final serving keg. Finally, beside beer it was great company and great burgers. I was fan boying Dwain’s brew set up and now I have eaten and drank on the porch that is his brewery’s namesake It was also great to introduce our families. PS. I just noticed Dwain’s post above. I guess he edited an existing post. The thread never showed as updated in my timeline.

This beer is good. I am drinking one right now. Mine is really an APA. It has lots of hop flavor and aroma.

She always wanted to be wherever I was, which is why I sit there so I can open the door for her. She was 17 years old and definitely ruled the roost. Unfortunately, in the last few days her health dropped dramatically. I buried her under the wind chimes at the base of the fireplace (also pictured). Sad day. 😢

It’s definitely tough to lose a good dog. You’ll have to brew a beer in her honor.
