My brewing for 2021 is likely done. I just came across my brewing sheets for the year: 33 batches total. The first one was brewed on New Years Day (a Marzen). The last one was on October 23, an "American Pub Ale". 33 batches total and 24 of those were lagers (About 72%). When I moved I was in the middle of some ales and there were some planned that I did not have a chance to make... a blonde and an American Wheat among them. I did NOT take any harvested yeast with me and I tossed most of the yeast I had in my yeast fridge except for a package of Diamond that had not reached its date. But I could always pick up some 1056 or BRY-97 and continue with the ales. Does everyone have numbers for your 2021 brewing schedule?

Looks like I got 28 batches but I'm not done yet. Maybe 2 more before the new year. Most were ales but I did lagers for the first time this year.

I brewed 21 2.5 gallon batches. Which makes me legal in Alabama! Yeah.

Looks like I'll be brewing a lager this weekend. I have a party in Philly next month at my cousin's house. I already kegged A hoppy pale ale but I figured I'd also bring 3 gallons of something else. A lager should be good for the BMC crowd.

Four... 4 dam batches... SAD! Wat? I think I had that in January. Yeah, pretty depressing. I had high hopes this year but just could not get over a brewing funk enough to brew. Some of that was because my son played a lot of baseball this year and I helped with that a lot. The rest was all me. I am putting this year behind me and hoping to start 2022 off right. I have plenty of supplies just need to get in the right mindset.

Just looked over my notes. A low output year for me- 16 batches- 3 of them group brews.
Interestingly enough, with exception of an annual 10 gallon batch of lambic base, production hovered around a handful of styles- German lagers, NEIPAs and a kettle sour or two.
Useally, I'll brew what I have a taste for. This year, just laser focused and really dialed in recipes/styles. The yield was low, but overall, really enjoyed the results.

I always said that homebrewing usually ends up at the bottom of the priority list especially if you're married and have kids. There are just too many other things to do and you're going to spend 4 hours making something that you could pick up at the store in 10 minutes. Maybe. Somehow I was able to sneak in a 4am brew session when my kids were little and I would end the session just in time to get them fed and ready and take them to school. When they got older and activities got less and less I was able to brew. In my new place my kettle will not fit into my kitchen sink... that's how I would bring the temp lower and let everything settle. Yesterday a large plastic tub (the kind with the rope handles) arrived so I am slowly planning my comeback. My new "pub area" is under construction and I have good plans for it but it will be a little while still.

I looked at the styles I brewed this year
Helles / Gold Lager - 5 American Pale/Amber Ale - 4 English Porter - 4 IPA - 3 Ordinary Bitter - 2 Blonde Ale - 1 Festbier -1 Amber Lager - 1
I really ditched styles I don’t love in 2021. Not every recipe was perfect, but it made for a great year of enjoyable beers.

Brewbama has broader taste, but I like his recipes also. Regarding, Porter. I stayed away a long time. I can’t take American Porters where they turn up the volume on roasted malts and alcohol level. The English porters are much more tame and I think English yeast takes some of the harsh edges off. On IPAs I also avoid higher alcohol content. For the most part 6.5% ABV is my limit.
