I've been seeing WAY more wildlife over the last few weeks. I've been on the night shift (8pm to 4am) and I've seen lots of opossum, many racoons and a realy big fox the other night. I do this shift often and it's not normally like this. I'm in an area where the city blends into the suburbs. There's no big apartment buildings, all single family homes in a moderately wooded area.

Yeah, when I put my camera outside I see lots of possum, skunks, raccoons, etc. We have a lot of squirrels, I have seen a fox in my yard and my camera picks up cats running around too... not sure if they're domestic or stray. When I cleaned up a corner of my backyard I think I saw less activity in general but this raccoon (if that's what it was) busting open a hole in my house has me a little shook. I was peeved about so many animals in the yard and so this one doubled-down and tried to invade where I sleep. I'm going up into the attic today with that idea in mind... NOT IN MY HOUSE, FECKER!

This afternoon I went up into both attics... one is over the garage and one is over the rest of the upstairs. Over the garage there is a partition that was partially removed when an electrician put some new light fixtures and a ceiling fan in the den about 20 years ago. I squeezed through that section and looked around. It's about 10x10 in there. I looked around, saw very little of interest and walked further in and that's when I saw it... POOP! For real. I went back into the garage and got a bag and collected it. I sent a pic of it to the trap master and he replied "not sure"... I assume that means he doesn't know what kind of animal left it. I'm losing confidence in this guy. He just wants to seal up the access point on Monday without making sure the thing is gone. What's the play here?

Could be an old turd. Could be a cat as well. My parents had one that would climb up on the roof to hunch up and drop a steamer.

Actually, the camera is a good idea. I want to say that this whole situation is new: The access point was just created this week and that's the noise I heard. If the dookie is old... it's more of a concern because that suggests that a larger animal has had access to my attic for longer than I thought. But having the camera up there would be good. Also, the poop was in a small attic next to the garage attic. If this thing were to be moving around in the garage attic it would be harder to hear it because it's above the garage as opposed to the house. But the garage attic is not warm, soft and cushy... it's wood floors and there are boxes up there so I would think the raccoon would prefer the insulated area. I talked with the dude and he says he'll inspect the attic before closing up the hole.

How big is the poop?

It was 5-6 pieces. Maybe ½" to 1" segments and the diameter of a nickel to a quarter. They seemed light and dry but I could also smell it so it seems possible that it dropped anchor in the attic on Tuesday morning when I first heard it.

Should I post a pic of the poop? That would be great forum content. 😏

Okay, you asked for it. I should have put something in the pic for scale but I did not. Each piece is probably the diameter of a quarter.

Okay, so trapmaster showed up today and he was in a mood for some reason. Over the weekend he texted me that he would go into the attic for a look but today he went all palms-up on me asking why I would want him to go into the attic. He said, "No one can crawl around in the attic and find an animal". He also told me he had 15 other stops to make today. Clearly I chose the wrong guy. The facts that I know are this: It's been 6+ days since the trap was in place. No noise heard at all including scratching, walking, running or the sound of babies. No other poop found except the stuff I mentioned earlier. Nothing on the camera in 4 days of having it set up. The guy says there is no animal. I feel like we would have seen more poop, heard noise or had something on the camera if there was an animal up there. My wife is pissed that the guy wouldn't look around in the attic. This guy was so prickly that when he went to get some materials to repair the damage, I told him to get the feck out and I would do it myself... which I did. I'm having my exterior guy come and do it professionally but for now my work will hold. Is there a small possibility that there is an animal in my attic?

Once everything is in place, I am going to install THESE on the roof where this access point was located. That'll learn 'em. This is fargin' war.

I don't think there is any animal in that attic based on what you said. You need to make a motorized propeller with those as the blades rigged to spin on a motion sensor. Gamecam filming required.
