I am trying hard to slate in a brew day because all I have is my iteration of Boston Lager which came out pretty good but not great. I need Helles now!

Truth be told I rarely use Continental Pils malt so your recipe is right up my alley. I keep trying different pils malts but I keep getting that grainy hay-like taste I don’t like. I often sub in American Brewer’s malt or even Pale malt and I like the taste better. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I get this from all pils except for Barke, Barke tastes like wonderbread to me.

I tried Barke yrs ago but don’t recall the taste and can’t seem to find my notes on it. I’ll have to try it. So many beers to brew… so little time to brew them.

I won a bag of admiral pils malt in a beer comp. Gonna try it in a beer soon. Thinking 100% pils, 25 IBU's, lager yeast, soft water

I'm always twitchy about using 100% pilsner in a beer. I'm almost always adding some Munich 1, Vienna, etc. so that it's not boring. Agree that a sack of pilsner malt is a great prize. The gift that keeps on giving.
