^^ totally agree. Also channeling The Cure in other songs. Even some Led-Zep'ish riffs by McCready and Gossard

I know this song is old but I wanted to post it so I could mention that I have never heard a song with the word WHOA! in it so many times. WHOA-OA! WHOA-OA!

Full disclosure; I'm a R.E.M. fan boy. Listened to this record in its entirety for the first time in a couple of years tonight. Definitely in their top 5 of their catalog; best song on the record.

I listened to a lot of REM. I don't know that I ever went completely head-over-heels for them and I don't think I ever saw them live but they put out a consistently good flow of music when I was in my 20s and 30s. I know many people who like them and others that despise them but they produced a lot of content that would not make me change the station, how's that?

I was a R.E.M. fanboy as well in my teens and into my 20's. Still listen here and there. I actually walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Nightswimming.

I listen to them every so often. I'll go a year or so without, binge a couple of records for a couple weeks. Rinse, repeat. Saw them live 4 times. Great band to see. They did "nightswimming" on the last time I saw em (2005). Striped down version with just keys and vocals. Great version.

www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiN-7mukU_RFFHxePcRsJnc7jDgMPLaCOOne of the most underrated debut records of all time. Television is the name of the band; they played alot in the CBGB circle with Blondie, The Ramones, Talking Heads in the 70s. To put out a record that was rock guitar record that wasn't only 3 chords and raw anger in 3 minute songs in '77 (not their is anything wrong with that ) is surprising. Saw 'em live in '02 or so, great show; pretty sure I was the youngest guy in the crowd; but really enjoyed this record. The lead singer is local to me. Ran into him at a bar about 15 years ago. I asked him if he was if he was in a band called Television, he smiled ear to ear, and we chatted all night. Stories from the road, and life in general. It was a cool experience; talking to a guy that was in a influential band that didnt get mainstream exposure- guy was very humble and personable. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiN-7mukU_RFFHxePcRsJnc7jDgMPLaCO

For those who know our groupie travels, I have to say the new Pearl Jam album Gigaton, cover to cover is outstanding and the boys really put all their hearts into this one. All members wrote music for this one. Youtube has the whole thing as well. In "Dance of the Clairvoyants" I thought Eddie was doing his best David Bryne impression. Sounds like Talking Heads! listened to the new record a week or so ago. They still have it!

Heard this the other day and hadn't heard it in a LONG time. Sounded good. I always liked Tori. She's like an tamed down American version of Bjork. Dated a gal or two that were REALLY into her music in high school/college times. Like REALLY into her music. (in hide-sight, a red flag or two). At any rate, hell of a song writer. one of my favs.

Were The Strokes attempting to channel Modern English with this new song of theirs, Bad Decisions? You be the judge:
