I'm really happy with the way the cabinet doors came out. The bar is dimly lit so any imperfections would not be seen anyway. This stuff Zinsser FastPrime is oil-based and they have a FastPrime 2 which is water-based and I was on the fence. I actually had the water-based one in my cart but I would rather the product worked well even if I had to deal with the stink. And it does stink. But the smell faded pretty quickly with a fan going. For anyone looking to paint over a poly'd surface... this is your stuff. More pics to follow.

My new fridge is being delivered as I type. The good news about this is the timing because I have not been able to brew but I have also been drinking commercial beer to empty the old fridge. As a result I still have a good amount of my beer available which will come in handy when I start painting more. I was surprised how much commercial beer was in that fridge... Victoria, Negra Modelo, 312, DAB, Bitburger, Two Women from New Glarus, Presidente from Dominican Republic, Pilsner Urquell. Whew. Nothing like beer and power tools.

The cabinets looked like this... That is a great looking spot! There are/were some things about it that could use a facelift. I will have some pictures shortly of the changes. New remote-controlled lighting above the taps, I distressed the two bartops, new fridge, I painted the cabinets, new flooring is going in, some new paint that my wife is now unsure about so not sure what will happen with that.

Here's a shot. Very preliminary. I have a lot to do but progress is being made.

Looks nice- that wall plug cover sticks out like a sore thumb though I know. It's always been that way. The outlet itself is white so I would have to swap it out for a darker one which means wiring which means I have not touched it. I also had to carefully cut that plate so it would snuggle up next to that wainscoting. I could paint the outlet but I think I have a genetic thing keeping me from doing that. It's usually pretty low lighting in the bar so it's not really that big of a distraction.

this is a project i've had in the pipeline for a decade now, but once the weather breaks, going to put down an epoxy coat down in the garage, complete with speckle chips.
I've picked up all the acid, painting tools, and power wash accessories for the project- lucky enough to have a buddy who owns a high output pressure washer to do the concreate prep work who will let me barrow. after talking to my family full of painters for tips, this is a rather easy project if you are good with tools.
If given the choice of painting myself (which I'd rather get punched in the mouth), or spent another 125% at a family discount, I'm going DIY.
its a weekend of prep and install, with plenty of curing time. I have all the PPE, tools, and know how. so, why not. it'll be great not having to worry about staining the nearly 30 year old concreate anymore with brewing or servicing the lawnmower, truck, etc.
besides, It'll look good once its done.

This ^ Although moving all the crap out of the garage would probably be somewhat therapeutic and ultimately create some additional space. Please let us know how it goes!

I have also thought of this. My FIL did it in his garage. I'm not sure I would do a good job of it and it's really very much out of my wheelhouse but I would like to do it. Many years ago I completely emptied the garage, painted and also pressure-washed the floor. It looked good. But some moron keeps milling grain and boiling wort in my garage and time has taken its toll. I wish I knew who it was... some guy, I guess.
